Wow they beat HPI out with it where HPI announced the Octane Savage like what 2 years ago?

Curious how much the engine alone is, and how hard it would be to strap into a nitro

I just saw this a few minutes ago, I can't wait to see one run. I find it hilarious that they beat HPI to market with something HPI announced so long ago.

I wonder if you can put an LST transmission with reverse in it, or if the transmission itself is geared differently.

The engine sure looks like it has a standard big block footprint but the flywheel looks like it may be longer because of the ignition's pickup. I have my doubts about performance but hopefully they know something I don't. A Losi rep did post on another forum, I'll copy and paste it below for you.

We are working on some videos now to show you the power this Dynamite .31ci gas engine puts out. It's quite impressive and the run time per tank is great. We get any where from 20 to 23 minutes of run time per tank (300cc tank). The truck also comes with a LiPo Rx battery so the steering and throttle response is very impressive, which in turn makes the AVC react even faster.

20-23 mins runtime sounds great...but a 300cc tank!
Still look forward to the video and more info. Thanks for posting Maj_Overdrive.

The shape of the cylinder head looks interesting. Wonder if it helps cooling?

300cc is a lot of fuel, but it's much cheaper gas (93 octane) and oil premix. I'm looking forward to seeing some video and more info as well. If I see something posted elsewhere I'll repost it here.

yup lets face it 300cc is nothing in comparison to a 150cc nitro tank on say a savage. so I go through $7 for 2 gallons in gas instead of $45 for the same runtime for 1 gallon of nitro(not counting having to spend $9 to drive to and from the LHS to get the nitro, or the taxs on the nitro)

For me "gasoline" is approximately 138 pence/litre (no oil)....nitro is 660 pence/litre.

damn you and your whacky UK money
anyways 276 is quite a bit cheaper then 660 even if you count the oil that would be good for many liters

Lol...pot/kettle/black?
Yes, it would be cheaper but if it performs like a slug then who cares about fuel price....I am interested to see.

Damm HPI and there "new age" videos.

Don't get me wrong its a awesome rc bashing video. But it doesn't really paint a clear picture on the real performance and handling.

The video is short and filmed in a fairly small area but it does show this truck has potential. I was one of many who had my doubts about this little engine but have been trying to keep my hopes up. But one adamant poster on another forum said "there's no way it would rev like a nitro and I'd be astounded if it revved past 20k rpm" Well Todd Hodge from TLR responded stating this engine revs out to 29,500 rpm. Not quite nitro engine territory but not bad for a gas engine.

Edit: And the release date is 5/29 of this year, 2014. Not 2 years from now.

I remember HPI's video that made the Brama 10b look like a great durable vehicle I think they broke 30 Bramas in the filming of it.

The Losi sounded like a nitro! The HPI Octane sounded like a 2 stroke? I find it weird that HPI leaked info how long ago and now Losi has one, two new video's and both being released this year?
