Need some suggestions. Have engine, need car and exhaust.

That's exactly what I did. I wonder if they (I think they're crazy if they did) installed the rod onto the crankpin and installed the piston and wrist pin last. A guy needs a really long fine needle nose pliers or a tweezers to install (or remove) the wristpin circlip through the exhaust port. I can only get the rod 1/2 way off the crankpin with the liner out and the piston pushed back as far as it'll go.

Ok so the Jato is out...and u want something 4x4.....
first pick is always the 1/8 buggies but.... It's been done...
what about something like a 1/8 Ofna Ultra GTP? That and a awesome aerodynamic streamline touring car body would be awesome.
by the looks there is a Mclaren F1 and a Mercedes.... Something.

I had a 4-Tec and I got kinda bored with it being on-road only. I'm interested in a Buggy or maybe a Truggy. Gotta be able to go offroad. I realize a 1/8th on-road is bigger than a 1/10th 4-Tec... But a gravel pit is no place for either! LoL.

Humm, if u are just bashing in a gravel pit I wouldn't worry about what pipe, the chances are there will be no noticeable difference...
I'd recommend going brushless and saving the motor for a nice project.

Its a buggy engine, it should go in a buggy IMO.

I'll keep my eyes out for a Losi. I was thinking the 086 would be a good start as well. I'll check out those Tamiya kits as well. I've never had a Tamiya before, how are they durability-wise? I know my local shops don't carry Tamiya parts but they do stock Losi parts.

You can buy two truggy kits for $198. Full-on top quality, with lots of carbon fiber etc.. There's a thread in the truggy section.. the buggy is also a deal at $149.
053 or Losi RE10(or is it 11?..) pipe in truggy...

Gentlemen, thank you for all of your advice and recommendations. I'm seeing around $300 for a Losi 8ight 2.0 roller average and $600 for a new one kit or RTR about the same price. The 3.0 is around $100 more. Those dollars are a bit expensive but I know how well Losi makes their cars so I know its worth the money...
The Tamiya kits are very attractive based on price, but $99 for a race Truggy kit? Seems too good to be true? Not knocking it, just thinking along the 'you get what you pay for' line. I will be putting a Novarossi .21 in whatever I get so it's not gonna have a slouch for an engine.
I went so far as trying to find some 'truggyish' gears and lighter/smaller tires to "Muggify" an LST2. I think enough junk could be removed from an LST to make it competitive weight-wise. I bet I could get to 10lbs or less; a buggy is 8-10lbs RTR. Is a short stroke .21 enough power for a Truggy type setup in a monster truck chassis? I would like to have a 2-speed in whatever it ends up being.
Just covering as many bases as I can.

I assume it's closed backplate, so forget an MT. The Tamiyas are so cheap because they're dumping stock.. Buy a second kit for parts.. (That's what I did..). You won't find better value for money.

I don't think u can go wrong with the 801x/xl. I agree with HerrSavage if u were to get two kits u would save a fortune.. Hell the main chassis plate use to be $134 all by it self.

If you guys say they're that good, I'll save a few pennies and grab a couple kits. If something else comes along in the mean time (for the right price), I might snatch something up. I wouldn't turn down a decent Ofna or Losi roller.
Yes the the engine is bump start right now. If anyone has a way of knowing if a current-production Nova pullstart crankshaft and backplate would fit my BX21, I'd consider converting it. I'm not really opposed to anything...
