Default Kyosho Blizzard

Ran across a few of these on Amazon, all from Japanese hobby shops.

Is Kyosho still making it, or are these old stock?

What happened to Kyosho here, anyway? They pretty much disappeared in the US after they got their divorce from The Empire. I did find a die-cast model site, but nada mas.

Bottom line here, I want a track vehicle to play with, but do not want a grand's worth of scale tank kit (or a scale tank kit, period, for that matter), or a mall kiosk special.

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

I bought my Kyosho blizzard sr here: http://www.amain.com/product_info.ph...ehicle-w-24GHz Has a four channel 2.4 radio and a functional snow blade. They are made in limited production runs. You might also try stormer hobbies or ultimate hobbies (both very reputable) they also carry them. They are a blast to play with! hope this helps.
Best regards.

Yes. When Tower Hobbies was "carrying" the Kyosho line, they had a whole slew of goodies; I had several Concept helicopters and couple of the nitro buggies for my grandsons. Then, for whatever reason Tower stopped carrying the brand, and I haven't seen much of anything Kyosho since. Of course, I just got back into the hobby recently, so I haven't been keeping up with other hobby sites.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks. Have you seen the slightly larger 'DF300' version? What you linked to is the 1/12th scale example.

Nobody has any, of any size, of course. Guess I need to keep watching.

Many thanks.

Oh I see... welcome back to the hobby
Nah Kyosho is still there and going nowhere.

But yeah., tower stopped selling kyosho a long time ago.
I don't know the details., out of 7 or 8 hobby shops here in Orlando, only 1 have kyosho cars/parts.
a few years ago 2 different hobby shop owners told me something about kyosho's policy when dealing with hobby shops.
again, I don't know the details so I could be wrong... but I guess it all comes down to $$$.

I have owned the DF-300 version, it was just a little bigger and a little "beefier" than the SR model. On the other hand the SR model has a smoother drive system and 2.4g control. They are a blast to drive and the blade really adds to the fun factor. I know I was bummed when tower dropped Kyosho, making them much more obscure to find, but they are out there. Best of luck finding one. I waited for a couple of months before they had them at amain hobbies. I paid 250.00 with a disc code. Paid a lot more for the DF-300 years ago.
Take care, Jay

All good to know, thanks. Radio gear isn't a problem, if the DF comes with none or 75mHz stuff. But it looks like I had not better be too choosy, and grab whatever comes up first, eh?

Look like Tower started carrying the Blizzard again, along with the Kyosho line in general...http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXEMUM&P=ML

Looks like Kyosho got smart with their distribution. I don't know who's bright idea it was but when Kyosho disappeared from Tower it was because Kyosho changed their distribution. Some LHS lost distribution even if they had a deal directly with Kyosho before. At least that's what a LHS told me, very strange what Kyosho did either way and I'm sure it hurt more than it helped them.
