If you try and cheap out you will effin run into issues fast as you really can't skimp on nitro vehicles.

Sorry collector1231, I couldn't help myself as I seen this thread still going and wondered.

I've been sending mods messages highlighting the posts, but the bots just keep showing up. 😈

Did you ever look at the email that rcu sends noting that there is a new post (from the spam bots)? there is a spam link at the end of the post. I guess rcu deletes it on the actual posts but its still going out in the emails

Yeah, as its posted before the email. What we need to do is put all the regulars on a "limited" moderator status who can only remove posts from people if thats possible.

Why does my thread keep posting repeats? Lol its annoying i keepgetting emails about it.

So an update. The trinity motor wasnt as fast as i was hoping so my hobby lobby helped me throw the castle motor in there. Holy cow is it like a night and day difference. After a few runs my car cuts down to half speed though. I looked it up and the hobbywing esc is going in to protection mode. If it reaches 100 degrees it does that i guess. It has a fan so i didnt think that would happen. I am going to gear it to castle specs. They reccomend 18/90. I believe i am at 23/86. Since it has a bigger pinion but spaller spur shouldnt it just be about the same? The guy at my hobby lobby told me i should just upgrade the esc. Im thinking the sidewinder 3 when i get the cash. Would it be worth the $50 or should i just try to re gear it?

Just read it again. It cuts to half power at 100 degrees celcius. So 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Wow. I dont think the esc can handle the motor. Lol

No. A bigger pinion and smaller spur is more speed and heat, while a smaller pinion and bigger spur is less heat and more acceleration, they're pretty much opposites. I'd get a new ESC, but I suggest one of these. I;ve had one for nearly 4 years now and its been through water, mud, dirt, and a whole lot of other stuff and still keeps kicking in my 2WD buggy after 3 motor changes.

The max is 2s though. I have a 3s battery. Thats why I was thinking the side winder 3. Its the motor that comes in the combo. If i had it i would buy the max pro. But i cant imagine spending $120 on an esc. Lol but it can handle up to 6s. If i ever want to be really brave lol

What's the difference between the one you posted and this one?

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Truck_ESC.html

Same name but yours says 2s max. This one looks different but says 2s to 4s.

I'm thinking of just saving up for the mamba max pro. I've read a lot of other post and that seems to be recommended for 3s on the 4600 kv motor. I need an escape that can handle 3s. That's really my only have to have. Lol

Just for all the info possible i have the cm36s 4600kv castle motor. I believe is said something about 2 pole on the specs of castles website. Idk what 4 pole and 2 pole is. Im going to research it. So any esc that runs 3s that anyone likes? Besides the castle sidewinder 3 or mamba max pro.

Which hobbywing do you have right now?

this one can handle 3s and is more than plenty for a rustler (and not too tough on the wallet)

Your gearing is pretty tall for 3s

This one. Its the gearing it had with the trinity motor. I read on castles website to get it 14 to 17/90. I think thats why it keeps over heating. It never did with the trinity motor though. Im going to buy the 17/90 gears tomorrow and try that tomorrow.

I re checked. It is 12-16t/90t. Think I will try 16/90. Hoping to keep the crazy speed, but keep everything cool. I need a temp gun, Just don't have the $20ish right now.

I am at 23/83. Had to correct that too. That is a big difference to 16/90. :/ Definitely need to regear tomorrow.

This is the other motor I have. The Trinity. http://www.*********andmore.com/Trin...3-details.aspx

It says that it runs up to 4s. Idk how come this one isn't as fast as the castle. Can anyone tell me why?

This is the Castle motor. http://www.castlecreations.com/products/cms36-4600.html
