Trying to start races at an oval asphalt course
Hello there everyone. I have become interested in trying to open a race track and I'm just looking for some advise and maybe just some support. I have been driving R/C cars for only 2 years so there's still plenty of knowledge that I'm lacking. But to the point, I have been talking with several people at my work and we have multiple asphalt courses that I think would be perfect. So I have been sent on the mission to try and find some rules and average race knowledge. Such as; normal race/ lap times, entry fees, pay out, and the best way to do different brackets. Racing leuges. Like the different speeds and sizes. And after I get all my ducks in a row to go about advertising it. I think it would be a great place like I said there is a oval course to race on and a large asphalt square that would be great to set up some type of drift course. Anything would be helpful.
Thank you in advance

Awesome! The world needs more RC tracks, lol. To see what rules you should do, visit a local track and see what classes/leagues as you called it, they run. Some popular classes are VTA and pan car.
I suggest 2 5 minute heats and 1 8-10 minute main per class. That will normally take up the whole day unless you start early in the day (around 8-10 AM). Normal lap times? You don't really need them at all. For entry fees, I suggest $20 for the first class, $10 for the second, and $5 for the third class to start out. Any additional classes would be free. Brackets? I'd say the best 8 in each class get to advance to the A Main, 10 if there is only 10 racers. If there is 11 or more racers, have a B main with 2 bump up spots to the A main. Payout is a bad idea. It really does bring out the worst in people. At most, maybe once a month, maybe a trophy race would be nice, but no payout races for sure. As far as advertising goes, post a listing on Craigslist for it, put flyers up at other tracks (make sure you have permission first!), join local RC Facebook groups and advertise it there. Good luck!

VIR.RC, What kind of vehicles do you expect to go to the track?
My local hobby shop has an asphalt course in the back parking lot where the employees park, it's free to use so we get quite a bit of people showing up.
I've seen short course trucks, 1/16 truggys, rally cars, drifters and even crawlers. Haven't seen a drifter yet but I'm sure we will eventually, asphalt has a lot of opportunities for many different types of tracks.
