Default Identify me

I am new to the rc bizz. Was given a banged up car that needs a tonn of work. It needs dogbones, rims, all bearings, differentials, motor and gears, springs/shocks, wheel hubs, swaybar links, and more. The problem is there are no identifying markers on it. Except 61T 1999 tamiya on the drive shaft gear. Some parts have been found on eBay after days of searching.... Only matching them by dimensions. If anyone can identify this I would be forever grateful.

You are what o would call correct. Many thanks for your efforts. Actually figured it out by Google image search the day after this thread. I just couldn't get into my forum till now. Kept saying I wasn't signed in. Any body know of any motor and prop metal gears that would work. I found the original plastic and aluminum gears but would like to get steel ones.

you only want steel steel pinions and the gears inside and on the diffs (assuming they are gear diffs. i dont know the model well enough to know if it has gear diffs or ball diffs). steel on steel wears rather quickly and the gears themselves cost anywhere between double and 10 times as much as plastic gears. also without the relief point of a plastic gear, stress will be transmitted to another part that will likely be harder to access and cost more than that $5 spur. get the gears you found and run with them. as for motors, any 540 size motor will fit (also listed as 1/10 scale and 3650). this system should do the trick http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDAVN&P=0

It is so far stock... Has ball diff with plastic gears. I will definitely take the advice and go with the stock pinion and spur. Don't want to destroy anything especially after a full rebuild

the nice thing about tamiya is that while some of their designs may be quirky, they are the only company to have designed a gearbox in the 80's made almost completely of plastic that can handle powerful brushless motor systems. also, parts will be available pretty much forever. one of their quirks is that some of their models use mod .6 which looks like 48 pitch but is just far enough off to cause problems. really dont know if the tb02 is one of these or not. i know the TT01 and DF02 are.

50355 is the pinion set and 58310 is the spur set shown in the manual. Also after my post about steel gears I figured out the motor was set far away instead of up close which is probably why those gears are chewed up. Same in the rear diff..... Was missing the ring gear bearing. Whoever set it up last had no clue what they were doing. I'm feeling pretty confident now that the stock parts will perform and last with the proper setup. Any thoughts on greasing gear teeth?

Yeah, grease is a good idea, but not on the spur/pinion mesh. Give the diffs a good amount to push around.
