Default Sh .21 nitro buggy motor

Hello all! I'm new to the whole nitro RC hobby and I had a question. I needed to replace the one way bearing on my SH .21 motor. Took it all apart replaced the bearing put it all back together but I still had some issues. Took it apart again and noticed there was a small semi circular piece broke off of the rear cover seat. I found out that the reason this happened was because I didn't have the piston at TDC when I put the cover seat back in. Idiot! My question is can I still run the car while I wait for a new part? Any help would be much appreciated!

As long as the broken pieces of the backplate are removed and there is no hole allowing a leak, yes you can use it until the new piece arrives. The only difference is the engine will probably make a little different power and/or run a little erratic.
