Rusty, have you tried the associated green slime I keep reading about? I havent tried it myself but hear it is good for sealing shocks and difs.

Blue, green, red, black, or clear slime...I've used them all. My problem is finding the right durometer (softness) balance for x-rings. Currently I have 70 Shore A hardness x-rings, and I almost knew as soon as I opened the pack, they felt not quite right. Too hard. Not enough "squish-ability" to grab the shock shaft. The one company that was going to make me some 50 Shore A hardness x-rings, in silicone, wanted $1 per x-ring. Is there really that much more cost to produce x-rings? Kyosho and Tamiya packs of eight x-rings are like $8~$9. In a months time I'd be spending $49 just to rebuild my shocks with new seals. So, I'm going back to square one. Going back to what I know works, and find a supplier with bulk pricing.

MIP "Blue" o-rings from back in the day were the best. That was what I had been using until they stopped making them. Then I swtiched to Traxxas "blue" o-rings when I raced the TCP (gut feeling they were/are the same material as MIP's).

Found a MIP pack of "Blue" o-rings in my pit box...

They gotta be from around 1994 time frame.

Grabbing/collecting dirt from the edges of lane from when neighbor had plowed the snow/grass/dirt.
Using that dirt to build up ramp that washed away on my track.
Rebuilt shock on Evader ST to try and resolve stiction issue that I'm having.

After some vicious cartwheels, and hard landings, the sensor cable is being taken off my ST. For one, the cable had loosened a bit and shut down the motor. That's no good Rusty . Secondly, I can't hardly tell the difference. If I was running on a smooth high grip technical track, I could see sensored motors being a good thing for the "feeling" of one's platform. Backyard track bashing...just yank the trigger, let 'er rip!

Default O-rings & X-rings

I got a few more runs in today at the track with sock seal test subjects SC & ST platforms.

The Associated shocks seem to take a liking to my choice of x-rings that I installed.

Edit: I had always thought Associated's shock shafts were 1/8"

The Duratrax shocks (mainly the rear) have definitely let in some air/let some oil out (little bit of both) while running the x-rings in them. The one shock, that I had fixed with new E-clip, got a Hot Bodies P-3 (#50 Green) silicone O-ring treatment. After a couple of packs ran on the ST, a bit of oil is still finding it's way out of the bottom of shock cap. Now I'm beginning to think the shafts are just that banged up, and have scratches/gashes in them that's cause this ongoing issue.

Other than a drop or two of oil getting out of the shocks; finally getting shock piston issue resolved, and having a working rear suspension, the Evader ST has once again proved to be a blast to bash. I have no doubts the tiny leak issue will be resolved here in the next week or so. The Evader has saved itself from the chopping block, and looks like it will be with me for another year at least.

I hate to say it, but sometimes I get upset with the way things are going around me. Work, come home, work outside, and run a RC or two. If I don't do something around the house that needs done, I don't "RC". That's my punishment. So if I really want to have time at the track, I must earn that track time. Today...it's just plain laziness that has set in.

I'm just tired, and watched passing showers block the sun. Sat on my rump for the most part.

I did nothing RC related. A buggy, that needs "gone over" is on a stand behind me.

Rebuilding diffs on RC8.2e...I think the stock paper gaskets have finally tore at the right spot or something. I got a little diff spray on the underside of body. Not like some that I have seen...just enough oil thrown to let me know I gotta take care of the issue.

Thumbs up Glue and more glue!

Gluing up a set of rear tires for the B4 buggy. Stock open cell foams that came with the tires are good for nothing. AKA closed cell foams fit perfect in the no-name tires. I probably should use their soft compound inserts, but mediums are the only ones I have, and they feel the same as Pro-Lines.

When I punch holes in the tires, I use the newly created tiny pieces of rubber to plug up the breather holes on wheel. E6000 them into place, and will be out at backyard track in no time.

Well, the Hitec is my favorite out of the ones that are pictured. Power distribution (can put all 100w to one channel, or divide up the wattage between channels), and ability to see internal resistance of cells makes the X2 AC Plus a favorite of mine. Though the IR reading may not be highly accurate (so say the charger snobs ) it gives me a look into the health of a pack's cells. On a 3S pack, if you get readings of 005mΩ, 004mΩ, and 027mΩ...you know one cell is not like the others.

The other two chargers, in other post's picture, are my first LiPo chargers that I got in 2010. I have another 80w B6AC+ charger, and a Ultra Power UP120AC DUO charger. I rotate the chargers every once and awhile. When we have all day get togethers at the house, I/we will have all five chargers going. The low budget B6AC chargers get the job done. Needing lots of batteries charged in a day is why I got three of them. They were my second group of purchases from eBay. The very first purchases from eBay were my WinMax LiPo packs (in picture).

That is a dang nice feature of the X2 to be able to give you the internal resistance of each cell. Definitely a view into the health of the cells. I wish the Ultra Power Duo had it.

I finally got my HoBao Hyper SCT back together after having to wait for some parts, because they got redirected from So Cal to Nor Cal via Colorado! 😰 Also decided to order all new bumpers from T-Bone Racing. The originals had worn so thin that the flat head hex screws attaching them were getting their heads worn off! Nice to have nice thick new ones again. Got both SCT and TT protected with new bumpers. If you're breaking stuff, it's because you aren't running T-Bones.

Tracking numbers/info are great fun. When everything is working right, you can usually tell when package will arrive at you house. If you see your package in same location for a couple of days, chances are it's stuck on conveyor belt. Ask me how I know .

Sunday, I took weed whacker to track and got the tall stuff knocked down to make track drivable for itty bitty buggy. Last night I took 10 gallons of grass & weed killer out to the track to calm the vegetation down further. Tonight, no RCing. Rain put a damper on things. Things were getting outta hand from being away for a week while on ghost hunting vacation .

Track had some drastic changes done to it. Days of rain, and the past two days of torrential downpours have made some serious ruts in parts of the track. Some of the people I've talked to, said that they did not remember a rain storm that bad.

After finally getting blown shock back in order, and softening up front shocks on B4 buggy, I had an awful time cleanly maneuvering around ruts. It was a sad day. I got a bit disgusted and came inside. No more 1/10 buggy track bashing until I do some work on the track. I not even sure my SC or eBuggy will be able to make good use of my backyard dirt.

Low profile bullets, for battery leads, have become a headache for some of my LiPo packs. In some cases, the four pronged (that's what I call them anyways) low profile bullets

fit fine in the battery, other times they are a tight fit, or a little loose. The tolerances in the batteries 4mm tubes are not so great, and is why I'm having a hard time with them. I'm going back to the birdcage style of bullets.

Nothing for a few days...rain, rain, work, rain, rain, work, work, work, rain, work, work, work, and more work. I'm not complaining. I love my job. I sit her now (day off of work) as I type away, and the clouds are rolling in again . I should not complain about that either. Rain, here and there, is needed. It just happens about everyday when I get off work.

I should prep a body or two, but I'm waiting for a body reamer to show up in the mail. Thanks to ya'll, I feel that I'm missing out on the use of such a tool.

Gotta have a body reamer and body scissors!
Just curious Rusty, do you have multiple brands of Lipos you're trying to use the low profile bullet connectors on? If so, maybe that's the issue. Stick with one brand so variances aren't an issue? Just a thought....

You really want to know?

I currently use Hunger, WinMax, Vortex, and ZD Racing batteries. Ha!

Yes, you are correct about variances. My socket style batteries have told me they like birdcage style bullets better. I've learned my lesson. The four prong bullets will be used for other project I guess. My plan was to use them for a server power supply to charger leads. Of course, I have to wait for the power supply to arrive to start project.

My birdcage bullets arrived today and I will be converting some of them to low profile ones with the help of Dr. Emel.... I didn't pay top dollar for big name brand this time.

Default Server Power Supply

Something I just had to try, and have for possible racing comeback. I personally think people are crazy pumping gobs of juice into LiPo packs just to have an "edge up". I highly doubt I'll do what some do to their packs. Any way, this is what came in the mail today, and my project preparation for next day off of work, or some late night insomnia kicks in...

Been having the Yeti do all of my RCing activities because of track being in such disarray. Even the Yeti's larger tires were no match for track's larger ruts when the Flying Pig got up to speed. Trying to navagate a SC/ST/Buggy between ruts, at moderate speeds, was nearly impossible, and impassable . I am really surprised I haven't tore any arms off yet <knocks on wood>. I got the worst two sections of the track repaired. Two more sections to go and we'll be back to normal.

Lots of gravel in that dirt! Must make it tough to work on? Track maintenance can be hard work. Especially in the summer! Ugh! Do you have access to a compactor? Might help.

Doing it the old fashion way I guess you could say. Yes, lots of work some days. Sun baked dirt is hard stuff. I look at it like this...I'm getting a workout at the same time I'm working to improve something that is needed to enjoy hobby. Those little pebbles are what lays on top of the red clay-ish dirt. Little by little, year after year, layer after layer...little rocks come to top of track for me to run on. The underlying dirt grips those tiny pebbles until I come along with my RCs and tires-a-churning. The pebbles eventually let loose and end up on the outside of turns. Soft compound tires get chewed up in as little as one battery pack. If I run my RCs on the track; with soft tires; while it's damp, then the tires have no chance of lasting more than a few laps.

The above tamper is one of my newest purchases, and frustrating runarounds....

Fifteen minutes later I get a phone call saying we are sorry to inform you the item you purchased is not at the store.

This is why I shop online, 95% of the time, to get what I need, and have items shipped to front door. I can't tell you how many times I've wasted gas, time, and energy while shopping at actual "brick and mortal" stores.

Frustrating .
