Huh, that's clever. How long does it take to discharge a pack?

We got to have a race day last Tuesday after a good seven day break from the rain. Ground was so soaked that it took that long for the track to dry out enough to run on. And still, I had to use a bag of sand to firm up the muddy spot at the bottom of the track.

It's time...

But first I have to take care of one little situation...

What you are looking at is a bottle of shock fluid that has somehow leaked. It was this way when I first opened up the box, and I sealed everything in vac bag. I had this Team Associated RC10B4.2 FT kit sitting in garage for sometime now (4 years). Not being able to sell it, it's time to put it use as bashing buggies was my first RC love. While Super Bowl is heating up, I'll be gettin' in there and cleaning up that mess before anything else happens with this kit.

At least you know that the metal parts were well Lubricated hahaha, I know that feeling though. I had the top of the bottle split on me from over tightening the cap and didn't realize it, put it in the drawer with the other diff lubes and a month later when I needed it found the drawer filled with diff fluid. that is a mess to clean up when its the consistency of honey. eww.

Default B4 Boo-Boo

Slow going on B4.2 build. Lots of laundry to do and school projects to help with .

All I can say is that Team Associated kits are not 100% perfect. So far I had one locknut that was not cut (tapped?) correctly, and the chassis had a small amount of extra material on the front, and side edges. This bugged me a whole lot.

This coupled with inner arms having a tight fit, had me sanding/trimming longer than I remember on other kits. I guess it's better than having a loose fit and slop right off the bat.

Its still irritating to have such poor attention to detail, even on plastic molded parts.

I took my trusty old Jato 3.3 (2.5 model) off the shelf, added fuel, and fired it up. Other than fixing a leaky fuel tank o-ring, it ran perfectly at last seasons needle settings. This engine has about 3 gallons through it, and it has a 2-chamber resonator. I got the roller for $20 and the engine for $50 used with six tanks of fuel through it some 5-6 years ago. It's a good runner.

I was playing with my Jato too this past weekend. Had a flip and cracked the body so I put my show body on it. also had one of the Hot Racing drive shafts come loose but luckily found the pin and reinstalled with loctite again.

Great Jatos guys! I try not to read anything about nitro powered RCs. I don't want to get sucked into that part of the hobby yet. Maybe when I retire and if nitro is still "cool" I'll definitely dig into one.

Default Sc10.3

After completing 99% of a buggy, and a stadium truck build, I still have some spare chop shop parts laying around.

My long time friend (eBay chop shop) has produced a SC10 chassis that's screaming, "DO SOMETHING WITH ME!" Anyway, Team Associated is not afraid to keep the T4 platform going. With the SC10 RTRs still being produced/sold; the T4.3 coming out, and the SC10.2 FT being discontinued, I'll call this....
my SC10.3

Ahhh. I can't sit around all day doing this. I gotta make it look like I did something (clean up around the house, laundry, etc.) before the wife and kids get home .

Rolling on the floor I am! I'm guessing a person can find all kinds of miniature positioned "ladies". Makes me wanna build a lowrider. I'm not gonna even attempt a search...wife will think I am crazy.

TWELVE PACKS! We ran 12 packs thru our Hyper TTs and Hyper SCs yesterday! That is a great race day. Awesome track conditions, pleasant temperature. My buddy snapped a steering knuckle on a bad tumble, that was it. Supposed to get some more rain this weekend, should dry out enough for another race day by Wednesday or Thursday!

TWELVE PACKS...That's an all day event in my book! Sweet!

The only thing I'm doing now is cleaning up mess from the Dr. Emel. Making room on shock tower for big bores.

Finally done with SC10.2 (SC10.1.5? ) build. Don't ask me why, but anytime I can get a pre-painted body in red, white, and blue colors... I'm there. . I'm topping off the SC10 with one of the RTR's Lucas Oil lids. Will, more than likely, sit in basement for "shelf queen" use only.

Northeast got more snow. Yeah! (Sarcasm) With crap loads more on the way!

Every time I think I'm going to get a chance to "run" something, I got prior engagements that I feel obligated to go to, or it's too cold outside, or too cold outside with snow .

Before I see the backyard track again, I got some more time on my hands I guess. I'm about sick of rebuilding diffs, and shocks. My B4 buggy is next on the tear down/rebuild/clean up list. I wonder what I'll find in the shocks. I should have took a picture of the oil that was inside the shock of my SC10 that was last ran months ago (Oct?), and put away dirty. That stuff was like mud inside.

Hey Rusty! Nice Carl Renezeder lid. Can't wait for the new LOORRS season, and F1. Man, you poor guys are getting hammered out there fer sure. Winter has finally loosed its grip out here in California. Getting 70s this week. Buddy coming up for another race day today. I think this rainy season has finally made a serious dent in our drought...184% of normal. Most rain in one year since 1887. I love California! 😎

My wife just texted me, most of PA is in a state of emergency for tomorrow. I really hope work calls, and says they will be shut down for the expected storm. Probably be like last year and tell us to not come to work...when 95% of us already showed up, and "clocked in" . I almost didn't make it home that day .

Anyway.

I'm slowly getting buggy tore down while in between spurts of laziness, and laundry. That's what you are supposed to do on a day off, right?

More nitro truck pics for Rusty to help get the itch...

Cleaning up my LST2s. Not cleaning all of the dirt off, but enough to look a little better. Cleaned the shocks up a little, fixed the broken RPM front arm turnbuckle (the stock RPM turnbuckles are WEAK!) that snapped off below the surface, and replaced all of the wheel bearings, rebuilt the Diffs, rebuilt the transmission with new bearings, installed a new modified Novarossi Legend .28, Nova 41017 manifold, and Nova 9886 pipe. Jeez, what else did I replace.... The truck with the Novarossi engine was built from scratch and run for 4 gallons (HARD gallons), so it needed some freshening up. I put a brand new set of Losi wheels and tires on it too.

The truck with the modified Picco .28 (41016 Nova manifold and Dynamite 086HS pipe) was rebuilt last summer with a complete set of bearings, new engine and exhaust, and a Losi wheelie bar. The Picco truck will keep right up with a 3S brushless Slash 4x4.

I've been itchin' for decades. Ha! (Did I just say decades )

That Losi truck would be something I'd be into for sure. I know nothing about the power band of a nitro engines, or if they can be geared for maximum speed of 30mph? Too pricey for me at the moment anyhow. Anything nitro coming my way would have to be rock bottom cheap-ish RTR...maybe HoBao Hyper VS buggy. I tell myself I'm dead set on buying only 1:8 scale buggies or 4wd SCT that is built somewhat off of 1:8 scale buggy. I'm done with expanding the 1:10 scale fleet (fingers crossed ).

It's an obsession for me (nitro). I'd have more trucks than I do, but I just don't have the space. 5 planes, 7 boats, and 4 trucks is my limit. .

Heres the Novarossi truck pulling some wheelies. Engine is breaking in still - about halfway brought the third quart of fuel. Still has a long way to go before she's gonna be totally leaned out for some speed runs. This truck easily gained 10mph top speed with this engine over the SH .28 P6 it replaced. I am totally a fan of Nova engines.

Really nice. Can't wait to see what it can really do. Novarossi was always a little more than I wanted to spend. Or should I say, could afford.

You sound old school, like me, with your break in process. Can't argue with success. My Savage SS still has the original 4.6 (.28) in it. Almost 8 gallons through it. I'm a huge fan of Picco, and ran gallons through 6 different ones. The plan was to replace it with one of theirs, but it just keeps going. I'm not complaining, just surprised. Proper break in, makes a big difference.

Rusty.......just get one. Nothing like the smell of nitro. It'll bring a tear to your eye. Literally! Lol.

I haven't had many different trucks, but I've put barrels of fuel through the trucks I have had. I handle things the way that produces real results. Old school in regard to fuels for sure. I'm a bit of an engine nut - I have 7-9 car engines and 47 airplane engines. Most of my engines are pretty old - 20 years old and older. So yeah, I guess I am fairly old school in general. I have and have had a pile of Italian airplane engines but only recently delved into Italian truck engines and I'm glad I did. They're so much better than the Chinese engines - especially modified. Holy cow that's a new world!

I've given up on trying to find a bulk o-ring/x-ring supplier that will make, or have stock to specs that I request. The current x-rings that I am using in my RCs are not holding up so well. The hardness of the material is just that...too hard, and they don't grip the shock shafts like OEM o-rings. I've contacted a few companies, and got replies/price quotes. Some won't make that small of x-ring, or the price is about $1 per x-ring ...that's after requesting a quote for 500 x-rings . I hate to think how many I would need to purchase to get the price down around .35¢ per x-ring.

I guess my search will end with me having to buy RC specific seals at premium packaged price.

Trying to go cheap on this one little piece of RC goodness is proving harder than what I thought. I got one o-ring order coming (HB P-3) to try out in my shocks. Hopefully these will have better sealing properties, and will then lead to a bulk supplier.

O-rings, bearings, and shock oil are my highest monthly costs to keep all RCs running smoothly. For seven or so RCs, those little maintenance cost sure adds up. I'm soo glad to have given up on my other addictions.

On that note, I hope ya'll have a Happy Easter.

Get out there and throw some dirt!
