What have you done to your RC today?

dammit, you could have warned me that was a traxxas video. i don't click on those. i wouldn't piss on a traxxas to put out a fire.
in other news. i ran the "wheely box" last week. that thing runs forever on a lipo. also found out it jumps pretty good to. i was kinda shocked at that one

I think the whole Traxxas patent scandal has dissipated enough that newcomers to the hobby won't know/care what the company is all about, or what they did. Just my opinion. The storm came, and we wait for the next installment of bushwhacking. I wish I could say I will not buy anything with the "Traxxas" name on it, but I do find their angled body clips to be my favorite for my 1/10 scale RCs.
On that note...lost two of those ^^^ body clips as I tried to correct my lil' truggy in mid flight. Pissed me off, 'cause I had a new package of Dubro's Body-Klip Retainers waiting to be put on. Love those things!

im so hardcore iv stood face to face with people and stopped them from talking RC with me because they said they owned a traxxas. iv not helped out or bashed with friends because they bought one.
iv never given those A-holes cent one. in fact iv taken money out of there pocket by talking people out of buying one and getting something else. iv talked people into selling the one they had and getting something else. and im damn proud of that!

Also, you really should tone it way down. You're doing far more damage to the hobby being that much of an ass about one brand than that one brand ever did. It's all well and good to go 'hey they're douchebag patent trolls that sell unreliable rigs for far more than they're worth don't buy their stuff' but it's another thing entirely to be a complete dillhole to buds because they happen to have one kicking about.

Here’s a pic of my Nelson plug head button a friend made to fit my .20ci smallblock engine. With the Nelson plugs,
i will be able to push the engine modifications further to get more power from it and in the powerband that suits the car. I have some timing changes to make yet, and I need to fit the button to a stock head.

Back from a long hiatus.
Hello all, haven't been on this site in a couple years but got back into the hobby today. I moved into a house with a massive yard so I began building my own track for off road 1/10th and 1/8th. Have been breaking the bare bones of the track in with my slash for half the day and it's coming along nicely. Hope everyone has been well!

Welcome back. Not much traffic on here anymore...even less than before.
Speaking of bacyard tracks, I couldn't be without one. Last night I switched directions for a totally different vibe. One of the three longest sections of the track is now downhill which lets me float over some of the rougher stuff. Natural bumps, and ruts form on the track that I rarely "groom". I do go around and pick out the larger stones that emerge, but that's about it.

Oh hey rusty! I remember you were very helpful when I was here last! Good to see you're still at it 🙂Ya I remember it was getting pretty dead (and occasionally toxic) when I pulled away from the rc world. As for my track I'm still in the really rough stage of building but I made sure it will work in reverse to keep me interested. Been spreading ground clear to get rid of the vegetation and have ordered a couple yards of well sifted soil so hopefully rocks will be less of an issue. Need to build a driver's stand as well but that should be pretty easy. It's just been so nice to be able to put a pack through the truck when I go out to smoke or grill or whatever, tricks me into going outside lol

Few days late posting it, but I built a Flite Test Commuter, and I decided the best power system it could possibly have would be a Cox 0.049! AND IT FLIES! Quite nicely, too. And yes I know the cinematography is a bit ****e; I was more focused on both the plane's first flight and my first flight than I was trying to keep my phone pointed in the proper direction. Priorities. It did catch the thing in the air though, and this coming saturday I should have better footage of it.
In car news, the TRX3.3 in my Slayer is totally hooped, so it goes into the 'art' bin and I'll be fitting a Dynamite 19T 5-port in its place. Turns out, the answer to my 'How long can I get a crappy Traxxas engine to live?' self-challenge is 'Less than a gallon'. No wonder so many people think nitro is nothing but frustration and repairs...

Picked this thing up from my LHS, TxR, $40. Siezed OS 40FP on the nose. Got it home and within 2 hours I had the engine running pretty much flawlessly at anything north of 1/4 throttle. Need to run it some more, get the low end dialed in so itt'l idle nice, then give it a modern 2.4g receiver, a modern LiFE Rx pack, and get it in the air!
Perchance, anyone know what this thing is? The guys in the Glow Nation FB think it's a Midwest Aerostar 40 trainer.

Took the twin detonator out after not being driven in over a year due to busting a shock and the dog bones (twin brushless, twin lipo). Last week I put the hd axles in, 2 new shocks and 40wt oil, lasted all but 5 minutes. I think I stripped the gears inside the trans touching the motor, havent looked yet. Turns out I didnt break the trannies, all good inside. I made the hexs go round and round ruining 2 wheels. Got my new wheel wish
New tamiya wheels in gray and RC4WD Mud Basher 2.2 Scale Tractor Tires. These things are huge. I still need new hexs was waiting to see if they would fit. On compression the body would get torn so I need to get some 12mm spacers then I can play!

Got my 15 or 17mm 12mm hex spacers today, superglued the tires and went outside for all of 2 minutes. Broke a wheel axle, I call it a drive cup but whatever. These wheels are SUPER sticky, I think I may just have to detune this thing, its just not fun the past 2 years only lasting 2minutes.

...and we have the seasons changing now. I don't like it. It's cold, and dark by the time I get home to charge a pack. If the temps are not above 50*F, it's a no go for me. This is the time of year where I sit and think too much about what RC stuff I want but won't let myself give into temptation (most of the time).
After cleaning up my Evader ST, I think it's time to part with it. Something happened to me this past month, and I don't even know what it is, or why I have the urge to end ties to the Duratrax RC. Part of it may be the fact that I've begun to dung out/sell some of my speakers/subs from when I was in a band. I also got rid of my beloved RC8.2e buggy for a good price. My heart aches, because the buggy is gone now. I'll get over it knowing something better is just around the corner.

Dusted off my Team Losi XXT
My son (13 year old) expressed interest in getting an RC car so I dusted off my old Losi XXT and we ran it around a bit. Of course it seemed slow for what I remember but it’s been sitting on a shelf for years now. I told him about the brushless motors that came out years ago and how I always wanted to try one out on this truck. So for Christmas I went out and bought a Castle Sidewinder 4 kit, a venom 4000 battery and a new charger. Wrapped it all up and gave it all to him. We spent yesterday afternoon getting it ready and it went like a bat out of hell on fire... for about 5 seconds. Then it chewed up the diff gear. We stood there shocked and laughing for a good minute but then the disappointment set in and we packed it up for the night. I tore down the transmission this morning and confirmed it shredded the diff. So we headed off to the local Hobbytown store to see if we might get lucky. Unfortunately they had to order in a gear and it won’t be here for a week or so... I’m not sure if will even work so I’ve posted here for any suggestions or tips. Thanks
