Default Looking for RC Car to Build

Wish to find a good upgradeable but decent rc offroad car. Possibly a truck or buggy. Would love to find a good kit that wife and I can put together, but also something that I could improve the various parts easily. Would like something in the less than $200 range but not locked into that. Pretty much a beginner, but was looking at the traxxas slash. However, with no kit for it, is disappointing.

Any ideas of a good choice?

Check out the PR Racing SC201, great kit and right in your budget!

Tons of upgrade options are available and it blows away the quality you get from Traxxas

Oh how true that statement is. I get discouraged everytime I see someone posting that they want a kit to build in this great hobby. It sure isn't like back in the day when you could get a basic kit, or a full blown racing kit with the bells and whistles. When I look for a new RC, I look for a kit to build. It's that simple. I really think Arrma is missing out. I think they could become the "Alpha Male" of the RC bashing market if kits were offered by Arrma. .

If I didn't have so much invested in my SC10s, and T4s, I would be taking a close look at some of those "off the radar" brands. Heck, I would even buy a HPI Firestorm or Blitz if they would be offered as kits. Meh. Keep dreaming RustyUs

Traxxas? I won't waste my money on that marketing machine. I'll give them a few bucks here, and there for items like body clips...that's about it.

So basically the only thing that I could do is get a R2R build and just go with it? I will stay away from Traxxas then and look at other decent rated brands.
