RE: Need help with Smartech car.
Hi Guys,
Please can you help a Englishman????
I bought a Smartech Commando Toyota Celica 1/10 off Ebay, I bought 25% gas and filled the gas tank but the problem I have now is the thing won't start.
What do I do??? Do I turn on the controller first and then the car or the other way round???[:@]
How do I set the car to neutral so I can start it?? Do I need to do something else??[:@]
Please help I am very confused I thought it would be easy.
Take the car out of the box pull the starter and away you go......HOW WRONG WAS I[&o]

RE: Need help with Smartech car.
Hi,
Let's see if we can't fix you right up.
First, fill the tank. Next turn on your transmitter. ALWAYS turn on the transmitter first. It helps prevent runaways due to forgetfulness. Next turn on the receiver. It really doesn't matter which one goes first but this is the safest way to go.
Your main needle (the one where the fuel line connects to) should be set at around 2 1/2 turns out. The idle screw (right beside the carb barrel - might be blocked by the air filter) should only be in so far as to prevent the carb barrel from closing more than 1.5mm. The low speed needle (if you have one) will be on the side of the carb right where the throttle arm is attached. You really shouldn't have to worry about that one yet.
With a full tank, plug the exhaust and pull the pull starter until the fuel just reaches the carb. Now give it one more pull. Leave the transmitter at idle position. You may have to play with the trim once you get it running. Now put your fully charged glow plug warmer (you have one right?) on the glow plug and let it sit for 10 seconds. Now pull the starter in quick, short pulls. Don't pull it out all the way or you are likely to break the spring inside. You should be able to hear the engine popping a bit as you pull. Your engine should fire up within a few pulls. Once it starts, leave the plug warmer on for a bit until it gets a chance to warm up. 15 seconds is usually fine. Start to run the car around a bit at no more than 1/2 throttle and gradually lean it out. Make 1/16th turns CLOCKWISE and give it 30 seconds of running in between each adjustment to take full effect. you should start to find the car runs faster and has better acceleration. When you want to shut down, just plug the exhaust with the tip of your shoe.
Let us know how it works for you.

RE: Need help with Smartech car.
I called the factory in China. According to what they said, excelhobby is no longer being provided with parts. Because their service is so bad. customer never get response from email or phone call from them. The factory is afraid this will ruin their reputation. So try www.rseetoys.com. They also have only smartech products. The service is not bad. They are improving. At least I got responded everytime when I contact them. Good luck you all.
