what I really hate is the battery only lasts like 15 minutes before the car starts to run really slow.. is there anything I can do to make it run longer?

Get a cheap 3000mah plus capacity pack from Towerhobbies.com

Tyco is what it is, a toy, but they aren't junk when compared to their peers, and a hobby product is not a peer. I had a turbo hopper as a kid and although I had one of the first RC10s (gold chassis and white plastics) it was still a fun driveway car that was fast for it's time and stood up to jumps on pavement and all sorts of mods such as an extra cell, a better motor and even grasshopper tires.

sorry dud e but like everyone else has said both those cars are pieces of crap, if your cheap and dont want to spend a little more look at like a 1/18 car like this one [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFXU9&P=7] its like $100 and there is like 30 diffrent body styles!!!!! just look on tower hobbies and im sure you'll find something you'll like. besides those crap cars you want will break quickly and there is no replacement parts (or hop ups for that matter) when it does so it will be garbage and you will be out of a entire car and not just a cheap part. just think about that and then tell us you don't want to spend maybe a little more for a quality machine.

Hey it looks nice . As long as your having fun with it then it doesnt really matter what type of car you have! But if you start to want more speed then nitro off road monster trucks usually exceed 40mph and have stunning accelration if youve never had any nitro rc cars or high class electric ones. How fast does your driftking go maxpseed? Also can oyu drift with it like the guys in the video on that website?

Oh my God...what is everyones problem with helping the guy? I think by now he knows the car isn't what we are used to running, and guess what...HE DOESN'T CARE! If he did he would have bought something else...he made his desicion, respect it.

If we had a bit more space free for our site I could post it there, but we are running out of space. I am going to buy more soon, so when I do I can host it for a while.

If you can take a shorter movie, or use Windows Movie Maker to split this one in 2 parts you can send it to me and I can see what I can do. The email is in my profile.

ok here it is.. and this is on street tires.. just me fooling around.. its pretty good for 70 bucks compared to what I would have had to spend on tamiya.. but dont get me wrong one day I will buy a tamiya or yokomo.. this is still fun for now, even tho it might not be as fast.. well enough out of me here's the link.

" The motors in that car ARE NOT changeable"

Not EASILY changable, and limited in what you can do.

The motors in those cars are mostly speed 300 and speed 400 sized with a few in the 540 class. The ESCs are fairly low current capacity and of course finding the limit is what you could call destructive testing. But a mild rewind of the current motor, better magnets, and even a swap are options that can work well. Back in college I managed a radio shack and when bored I would take a car like the rock crusher, a Nikko made truck produced from the late 80's - just recently. I ran a 18t modified that had it wheelieing on the carpet and running like mad. Course I nuked the tranny, swapped in a new one and ran a 22t motor that was a big increase over stock and the ESC and gearbox survived. The wheel bushings were not very durable though. There was another car, a mustang about 9 inches long. My asst manager and I and another employee set up a small racing leauge using them. We took about a dozen from after Xmass leftovers and ran a stock and unlimited class. The unlimiteds were great! Instead of 4 AAs we used 6 cell nicads, drilled and cut the chassis down to bare bones, lowered the body, swapped wheels and tires, and a few other tweaks here and there. Those little things were an absolute blast. So yes the tycos can be modifed and it is fun, but they are apples and oranges when compared to hobby grade stuff.

appanrtly these have current dampeners or something on them, which you can remove, to give you a bit more grunt, but weather or not it frys your engine, or esc or something i don;t know

AHH!! i only watched the first minute and i deleted it lol....

stop hitting reverse!

You know the little spur gear that ur motor turns... you can say goodbye to that in about a week... if u keep going forwards and then throwing it in reverse to try and get any sort of slide, the metal pinion on ur motor will completely tear off the teeth on the plastic spur.

and the fact that ur hitting reverse to try and get any sort of loss of traction, kinda shows that these things are just 'toys' and don;t have any real power.

A new member asked for specific advice on which of the two vehicles in his price range he should get. I didn't see a request to be insulted. Let's stick to informed opinions and facts (as some of you have). For those who have not, I suggest re-reading the posting rules conveniently located above the post text box.

Girn, you should have just got an iWaver or Xmod, something 1/28th scale. Both are under $100, and are more upgradeable than any Tyco.

the motor isnt strong enough to tear off the spurs

** if you going to make a video with a drift car........drift with it and drive your best.

so judging from that pic of the inside of the car.. what could I do to it? Is it possible a new motor would fit in there?
