Help me before i destroy this thing!
alright, so i bought a new warhead at the hobby shop a few weeks ago, i broke it in and it was working fine, but in the space of one day it started to rev really high and only move at walking speed. i replaced the clutch, tightened the slipper all the way, and made as many adjustments on the tranny as i could think of. it still revs really high but only moves at walking speed. what could be wrong with this thing? ive dissasembled the entire thing at least 4 times and cant find anything wrong. the only place i havent looked is inside the tranny.

Just a bunch of ?s and checks-
Are your clutch shoes installed the right way? They are centrifigal, so if they are installed the wrong way, they won't engage the clutchbell.
Do you have a good mesh between the clutch bell and spur gear? You should get good tooth engagement there. If they are too far out, the clutch bell won't engage the spur.
When you rev, do you see the spur moving fast too? If the spur is revving with the motor, then it's not engaging through the slipper for some reason.
Does the truck roll freely when the engine is off? Are you sure the brake isn't stuck on?
Have you been into the front/rear diffs at all? If you removed them, do you put them back in the right way? Was the mesh on pinion an spur gear setup alright in the diffs?
Are the wheel hexes stripped out?
Just do more investigation. It's not going to be hard to find based on the severity of the problem.

I had a very similar problem, but with an MGT. It turned out to be a broken 1-way bearing in the transmission.
You should easily be able to discover in what area the fault is located (clutch, slipper, tranny, diffs etc) with a little investigation. If the spur gear is spinning when you rev the engine and ISN'T HOT then the problem isn't in the clutch or slipper. If the outdrives from the tranny are spinning properly when under load then the problem isn't there either.
Dale basically covered it, but my money would be on the tranny if the clutch and slipper were OK and you havent recently dismantled the diffs.

the funny thing is that i checked everything dale said i should. i guess my last option is to go inside the tranny and see whats happening in there.

believe me, nearly everything on this truck has undergone thorough examination, the flywheel being one of them.

never mind, i found the problem. it turns out some fuel had somehow gotten into my slipper clutch so that no matter how tight i got it, it still slipped. so i took it apart and cleaned it with mineral spirits and now im having lots of fun in the mountains!

How do you like the new warhead? How would you compare it to say the TMaxx and Revo as a MT? I'm just curious b/c I'm looking at buying a MT soon. Trying to get out of 1/8 buggies.

so far i like it a lot, ive got a little over a gallon through it now, and the engine finally settled down and runs very well now. the first gallon was a little hard. but as ive never driven the revo or Tmaxx i cant compare it to them.
