Default rc10gt clutch

Hi I need input: I have an rc10gt with an OScvr 12 in it that rocks. The problem is the E-clip that holds the clutch bell on only last thru 2 or 3 tanks of fuel before it pops off. I have replaced the entire clutch setup, to include the shaft the bearings ride on, and the E-clip seats on, the clutch, the flanged bearings, (everytime it spits out the E-clip), and clutch bell. It lasted thru about 9 or 10 tanks after all this. But is back to old habits. I have a friend who says his rc10gt does the same thing, he replaces the E-clip every tankfull of fuel. This can't be normal. Any ideas? Thanks Garry

no thats not normal. you can get the clip off a losi or you can get a thin wire( dont know if the bread ties are too small or not ) and wrap it in the groove and twist it together.

You could also drill and tap the center of the clutch nut and use a 4-40 bolt and washer to hold it on.
hope this helps

Hi,
I provided an answer to that question last July. Here it is again.

Make sure the "flat" side of the E clip is facing outwards. That might help your situation. If you want to fix it once and for all, replace the pilot shaft with an HPI unit. It doesn't use an E clip. It has a threaded hole on the end. Just insert a screw with a washer, and your problem is gone. My friend was experiencing the same problem with his Associated RC10 (Truck). He installed the HPI pilot shaft and it solved the problem. BTW I have two HPI Nitro Rushes with the end-screw and have never had a problem with clutch bearings or clutch bells coming off.

Thanks for the replies guys: A friend told me the HPI unit would not work but it sounds like it will. I think I will give it a try. Are there any mods. required? Thanks Garry.

Try putting 1 drop of blue locktite on the E clip. This will keep it from coming off.
