What are the best tires for the RC 10GT?
It looks like it won't be too much longer before I'll need to replace the rear tires on my RC 10GT. I can't help but think there's some better tires available than what they come with from the factory. What are some good tires? Where's the best place to get them (prices wise)?

grampi....I won't say which are "THE BEST TIRES"....but the Proline brand seems popular with allot of guys. Here's a link to check some out. By the way...I have bought from these guys and they have fast shipping. Also...I have the HPI MT 4x4 and it came with the Dirt Hawg tires....they seem to hold well on pavement (to much rain for off-road) and I can only imagine how they might perform off-road.

What's up with the tires and rim sizes? Looking through Tower's tires and rims, I noticed Associated sells rims that are either 2" or 2.175" in diameter, while most of the tires for 1/10 scale require a 2.2" rim. I need to replace my rims along with the tires because where I run my truck there's a lot of rocks and the edges of the rims are cracked in a few spots from hitting the rocks.
I don't want to replace the factory tires I have with the same tires. I want something that's gonna give more traction. All of the replacement tires I've looked at that I like require a 2.2" rim. Will these fit on Associated's 2.175" rims, or will I have to buy 2.2" rims? If so, which one will work on the RC 10GT?

Towers got some three piece rims for your truck I think. Try this link.

Personally, if you need new rims, I would stay away from the chrome looking ones. I put HPI chrome rims on my Losi XXXNT. They lasted about 20 seconds. (first roll over )

Those would probably work fine. I don't really care what color the wheels are, though I probably would want to stay away from chrome. I wouldn't mind using the factory rims if I could find some decent tires to fit them. I want some tires with longer knobbies than the factory tires for better traction.

Well grampi.....I took off one rear wheel on my RC10GT and tried to fit one of the rear wheels from my HPI MT 4x4 onto the RC10GT and it does not fit. The axle size does not match. Of course....the tire sizes are slightly different....as I expected.....so it looks like....at this point....you'll need those wheels that dirtman pointed out. In the meantime....I'll keep looking for tires that your interested in. I'm sure their are ones out there that your interested in.
I did find this website that is selling what seem's like a good deal on 4 wheels/tires but it's factory. Just in case you need a backup set.
http://rpsales.net/rc10gt/ft.htm
Also...grampi....take another look at these wheels at Rcboyz and notice the info about axle size and how to determine which one you need. You can mount 2.2 tires on these...so that would give you more of a variety to choose from.

Anybody else know where different tires can be found for the RC10GT?

the rpm claw wheels are pretty solid. I run them on my rustler. The proline bowties and step pins are good all around dirt tires. Grab well on just about anything but wear out quick on pavement.

I use these Pro line DIrt Hawgs front and rear for general bashing around. They are pretty good all around even pavement. They are also a little taller than stock so they mellow out the bottom end speed a little and give it a higher top end speed. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LA3206&P=1

Grampi, I have been running the Dirt Hawgs that mattymx linked to. I run them on front and back and they are great. The only problem I have had with them is deep grass but the factory tires did the same. Over half a gallon on concrete and dirt and they still dont show wear. They do tend to pack a little on really tacky mud.

Which tires, of the tires that offer good traction, last the longest? The Prolines I've got get pretty good traction, but they don't look like they're holding up very well wear wise. They only have about an hour's worth of run time and they're already starting to show wear. I don't run them on pavement either. Maybe I should try a set of Dirt Hawgs. I don't want to be replacing tires every 2 hours of running time or so. I didn't realize this thing was gonna be so hard on tires.

Dirt Hawgs or Galdiators? They both look like they'll offer great traction on a vareity of surfaces, but which one will last the longest? Whichever one I choose, I'd like to put them on front and back. Maybe these will help with my steering problem. Thanks.

I have ran my truck through mud. So I seriously doupt it. As for tires. I have ran stubble t's, step pin, and fuzzie t's. But the fuzzies would be a great all terrain tire I suppose. And when you bye wheels, stick to one piece wheels. 3 piece wheels will let the tires slip from the extreme torque of most motors. One piece will not.
