Default Fastest nitro car in retail?

Not really Savage related but i just wondered what the fastest nitro powered RC car is, which you can buy off the shelf. As in, not a special modified one.

If anyone knows please reply.

Traxxas says the Nitro 4-Tec with the 3.3 is capable of 70MPH +. That is one fast puppy.

Nitro 4-tec with 3.3-

However, the fastest RTR production vehicle is the Schumacher Fusion .21 with a 3 speed and speeds in excess of 80 MPH!

Another picture of the Fusion with a different body.

That is just stupid straight line uncontrollable fast at top speed. I would doubt that the car would even have sufficient downforce to hold itself to the ground at that speed.

The Fusion is the fastest one, image putting in a .28!!!!!! That would hit 90 easy and maybe with some significant mods it can go 100![>:]

Cen CT5 (I think thats what it's called) is advertised at 75MPH. So is the Traxxas 4-Tec 3.3. I cannot help but wonder if those advertised claims are real since many advertisers of nitro engines just about tell bold faced lies when they advertise engine HP. Why would those same advertsers tell the truth about the top speed about cars and trucks as well?

I say we all take our cars and trucks to a certified laser speed trap like they use for nitro drag racers and find out with hard numbers once and for all.

Just so you guys know....
The Schumacher Fusion Skyline will do 80+ out of the box... It hits 40mph in less that 2 seconds which is impressive in itself.
A guy at one of LHS's has one and had a local cop clock his at 87.4mph

My Brother in-law had a Schumacher 3-speed car and once we had broken it in (which was a bore) it was fun at first, but then we realised that my TL01 was actually more fun to use. Because the Shcumacher was SO fast you were always on edge, and, inevitably, it found a wall fairly quikly. I've never understood why he bought it, it was expensive, and not very fast at all once it hit that wall.

Go for an endurance nitro car. One that is consistently fast; not just in a straight line.

Chris.

I look at it the same way I do 1:1 claims of MPG. When the MPG is tested (for most cars) its done on what amounts to a treadmill. No wind resistance, no hills etc. When the RC companies make a speed claim, they don't tell you what conditions it was done in - so maybe they used 50% nitro and had the carb leaned out as much as possible without getting a lean bog. That would make the top speed possible, but not practical.

I don't like Traxxas, lots of plastic isn't good in such high power to weight ratio car, plus they charge a lot more than it's worth.

The 4 tec is terrible for anything except the flatest parking lot you can find. If it hits any bump in the road when going full throttle it will start cartwheeling like crazy. A better suspension would be sooo helpful for it, so if you get a 4 tec upgrading the suspension will be a must unless you have a very flat street or you have an RC oval track to go on. If you stay under half throttle then you won't need to do that, but if you are like me, you can't stay under half.

Yeah traxxas really didn't do anything to it when it became 4-tec 3.3 all they did was slap the 3.3 in there with a new body. [:@] Not smart for the sales team. There not even in competition anymore
