RE: Fastest RTR under $300?
I got my NTC3+ for about 300 with a 30 dollar discount from towerhobbies. A few sites have it for around 300. It's a great car and if you look a little, you might be able to find a deal.

RE: Fastest RTR under $300?
i sent you a pm with a jato that is for sale on the forums. It looks really clean. I did not put it in the forum because the mods might delete it. The jato looks brand new and well taken care of.

RE: Fastest RTR under $300?
I have the CT5
It great if your a beginner you could set it to 50% throttle or 45% or any number between 0-120%
Its also very fast
It comes with 2 belts: one for accelaration and top speed of 73.4MPH or 75mph and less accelaration (i would stay with the 73.4mph)

RE: Fastest RTR under $300?
To make an electric go faster than a nitro costs SERIOUS money. But they do have more potential for top speed. With just the addition of some li-po batts, a top end brushless motor, and a speed control to handle those things, 100mph is quite easily acheived. But inculding the car and everything you'd need, you'll be looking at $1000 or thereabouts.

RE: Fastest RTR under $300?
Do not buy a cheap RC car and expect it to go really fast without breaking every run. Those cheap electrics are not worth the sum of the plastic parts they are made from. Cheap=expensive.

RE: Fastest RTR under $300?
I would get either an NTC3 or an LD3 (ofna )...check it out: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXEKJ3&P=7
I have 2 of them...they handle great, and the Force .12 runs surprisingly well...(I think the Parris (sp?) Ringed Pipe has more than a little to do with that )
Both of mine are single speed and they go quite well...but the one in the link has a 2 speed so it oughta go even better
IMO the LD3 is just about as good as the TC3...but the TC3 has much better parts availability.

1: Thats considerably out of his budget.
2: That truck would probably have a hard time getting to 40, the brushless in that isn't the best.

RE: Fastest RTR under $300?
I have read the thread, but I can find nowhere where you specify what type of RC you really want? Truck? Buggy? On-Road?
Have you ever considered a kit?
If you would consider a buggy kit? Then here is an option nobody has mentioned yet... Tamiya, so it is reliable, handles well and is easy to find parts for. Both replacement or upgrade parts.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXMFW1&P=ML
And for a motor, either the Novak XBR/EX 8.5 system
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRST1&P=7
or the much faster but slightly more expensive Mamba Max 5700
http://www.b-p-p.com/proddetail.php?prod=c_MambaMax5700
Your budget was $300 right?
Well, Dark Impact Kit @ @139.99
Novak XBR/EX 8.5 @ $174.99
But you can use the $35 dicount coupon(you will have to wait a couple of weeks as Tower only releases the really good discount coupons close to the end of the month).
I make that $279.99.... Leaves you $20 for shipping.
Well inside your budget
Or the DI kit with the MM5700... You can us eth $15 discount on the kit
$124 For the kit
$178 for the MM5700... with free shipping
Total $302... that exludes shipping though
Or if all else fails? Why not just look at the Tower Terror RTR?
http://www.towerhobbies.com/products/towc03.html
And you get a $20 gift coupon

The Buggy is a good idea...they are much more versatile than a TC and with a 2 speed, can be quite fast.

None of this will get you 55mph but really, 55mph is pretty fast and hardly even drivable in my opinion, so really just get something thats in your budget and you'll be happy with that believe me, I have a rustler that probably doesn't even do 40mph and thats the fastest I'd ever want to go right now.
