Need everyone's opinion
Hey everyone, my buddies and I recently got into the whole 1/10th scale off road truck thing. We are all having fun I have an RC10GT2, friend has an HPI, another guy has the Associated electric RC10GT2...
Anyways, we are all pretty competitive guys, and all of us are pretty talented car guys (real cars), so we are all pretty mechanically inclined etc... I want to build a really fast really strong really duarble RC10GT2... mostly fast though
Here is what I was thinking:
Carbon Fiber Chassis, Top plate, and front subframe from here:
[link=http://www.xtremercracing.com/RC10_GT2.cfm]Carbon Fiber[/link]
The OS Engines 18 TZS
The tallest gearing (21 tooth?) I can find for top end speed as I don't think torque will be an issue
Now here are my questions:
Can I or should I upgrade the parts in the trans and differential?
What lightweight extremely strong shocks should I run?
Wheels / tires?
Servos? Light weight and high torque and speed for both throttle and steering...
LiPo battery pack for the receiver?
I was thinking about using the RPM A-arms front and rear as I hear they are pretty stout, a few other RPM suspension components here and there as well. Is there any upgrades for things that have bushings that I could replace for ball bearings? I want this thing to be ridiculously fast, yet be pretty durable also so that in case I screw something up it won't destroy everything.
I would love to hear thoughts and ideas, product sugggestions what has worked for other people in the past etc... I know that this is probably a fairly impractical build for racings sake but it is a hobby and fun! Please let me know your thoughts!
Thanks a lot, I am pretty new at this whole thing so your input is appreciated!

Thank god you have previous car experience. That engine is a great choice, for a servo I would choose the Airtronics 94357 (for both), for a RX pack I would just get a rechargeable 5-cell pack. The Li-Po doesn't have much of a benefit besides weight and that minuscule amount won't make a noticeable difference. RPM has great products so anything from them is great. The chassis sound a look good, get some pics when your done!
Now when you say racing you mean just in parking lots and stuff right?

RE: Need everyone's opinion
Thanks for the input! Yes when I say racing I mean we line em up and go to the end of the block and back... Just playing around with the occasional jump or dirt running... We got these mostly to thrash on and blow off some stress after work. We have a few beers and a few laughs. Its a good time.
So so far:
Good engine choice (Possibly sending the engine out for more mods)
Good Chassis and top plate choice
Pro Line wheels and tires...
What about the transmission and suspension? Is there a good upgrade to the stock components of the RC10GT2? Reservoir shocks or something? Like I said I am pretty new to all of this so any input is appreciated! Thanks!

I would stay away from a graphite (or carbon fiber) chassis and stick with the aluminum one. Heat transfer from the engine to the chassis is a definite advantage with the aluminum chassis.

Ah, I hadn't thought about that... I stopped in at my local hobby shop today and discussed my plans with them and one guy there suggested running a high performance .12 engine... He said it would be more drivable, easier to control, save weight and they are rated at the same or close HP. Thoughts?
