RE: Can anyone tell me what this old car is??
I was thinking Kyosho at first, but I don't think so & it's preaty hard to guess how old it is if you dont know what type of car it is. Im sure someone here will know, either way the engine mounting and drivetrain ont hat thing is awesome. Is it yours?

I think it is home made. Just some feeling says so, but i agree with others that thing is sick! Edit: Is it just me or does it look like an airplane engine possibly 4 stroke? Just a thought.

looks like something from the 80's. Like others have said, hard to tell with the age cause it is home made. (just have a felling its home made).
But judging by the engine and other parts it looks to be atleast 20yrs old.

It is not home-made. That car predates the kyosho circuit 20 by a few years. I don't recall the manufacturer, but that's how it looked new. It's from the late '70s if memory serves.
It's not an airplane engine either. It looks like an old OPS .20 to me. Can you provide pics of the side of the case

I think this car is original kit apart from the kyosho fuel tank that replaces original one.
This Belongs to my friends dad who owned a model shop years ago.
I dont think it is an aeroplane engine but remember that the very early cars used aero engines because thats all that were available.
I will try and get pic of crankcase as it show what i think is M (could be mondial symbol)

RE: Can anyone tell me what this old car is??
Hi
I can't tell you what car it is, but I have one that is very similar, the basic structure is the same, with the chassis rails and side elevations and rolover bar in aluminium, the rear suspention is identical with cast alloy trailing arms.
The front suspention on mine is the same other than there are twin trailing arms just like a full size VW beatle. The engine on mine is direct coupled to the gearbox through a centrifugal clutch and the engine is mouted to the rear with the crank parralel to the ground. It had an old os max 21 engine in it.
The radio control box on mine was a perspex plastic moulding which was very crached but apeared to be the origional. I have replaced this with an aluminum effort.
I was told once it was a mantua??? but who knows. I bought mine very second hand when I was 14 and that was 22 years ago!!!!! eeee Im getting old!lol
Regards Angus

Must be custom work based on Kyosho models, probably like the Landjump. To me, it does look like an airplane engine too. Very unique engine mounting position.

It looks like a custom based off a Kyosho. Check out this Kyosho Fairlady. It's not the same thing but a lot of it looks similar.

yes they look simmilar, but that is probobly just due the them being from the same era, if you look at cars today they all have the same general set-up/layout and cars from then where the same. that was what worked back then with the technology, so everybody made their with the same layout. i have to go with itweety on this one.
just a shot in the dark...maybe some kind of jaco car? but i think they only made large scale stuff.

The motor looks pretty much the same, although again it could be just the typical design from that era. Another picture of a similar motor on that site says OS Max on the site BTW.

RE: Can anyone tell me what this old car is??
Hi Mike, That one you have linked to is so very close to the one I have, even down to the radio box, now sadly smashed and removed!!! Its a fantastic piece of engineering, no plastic parts!!!!
Wish mine was as complete as that one!
I have run mine and its a handfull, its not fast but has plenty of torque, very low geared. The suspention is awfull and it oversteers like crazy! Good fun!!!
