Sorry about the bad image quality, I was using my phone since my camera can't take close ups. Eddie, it looks like you'll be getting an order from me today!

RE: **OFFICIAL** MTR-3 or 2S 1/10 truggy
Got the part I need yesterday, very fast shipping on Eddie's part! I ordered it on Monday night so it shipped on Tuesday. I installed the steering knuckle and drove it today and got some video for the contest. While jumping it I broke one of the body posts but it still works with only three. The one thing that has put my truggy out of action is the pull start. The string broke but not anywhere worn, it broke inside the pull start and just came out. Do you guys think I can fix this?

you can rewind it, you just have to be careful with the spring, when that pops out, it can be a pain to get back together.

Its not the spring that broke or came out, its the string, it broke right where the knot was. How do you retie these things? I can't think of why it would break!

i know but you will have to take the starter off to get to the string if it went inside the starter, you have to be careful of the spring when you take it off. You can just retie the string to the handle.

I think I'll have to buy a new one, the string is so frayed it won't go through the hole in the pull start. Would the pull start from another .18 engine work?

If the string is frayed, I usually twist the string a little and use a lighter and melt the very end(frayed end) of the string to make it easier to go through the hole. But if it is frayed too much, it is bound to break(again) where it is frayed.

Well... I got a little bored today(since it is frick'n cold) and did some engine mods on my MTR-2S(for which I still haven't driven).
I made a clamp to clamp down headers(exhaust manifolds) so they can be machined out to match the engine's exhaust port to aid in better flow. I have noticed on all of my nitros that the exhaust manifold port is much smaller than the engine's exhaust port. But I guess that is where the performance manifolds come in...
I also lightend up my engine mounts too....

Does anyone have a picture of what the string is tied to in the pull start? I want to try and fix it before I buy a new one.

there is a small slit/hole on the wheel that you push it thru and tie a knot onto then you push it thru and tie a knot in the handle.

I honestly dont know, i know that an hpi nitro star will fit the older style vx.18 but that was with a larger one way, the infinity uses a smaller one way.
