is there a way to properly warm up your engine if you do not own a heat gun?

I guess a hair dryer might do the trick. I dont know if it will get it hot enough.

i am saying is there a proper way to do it by running the engine cuz i don't want to run my engine cold should i idle through a tank or wat just wanna warm her up to ensure proper running.
