Why didn't someone tell me this hobby was so expensive/addictive?????
I just got back from my LHS and all I went in for a reverse wheel nut for my savage and a racing clutch for my RS4 3 SS and I come out with Velocity 40's with Big Joes(they are BIG too) and new bodies for both of my vehicles and a 160$ bill .I think it's cheaper to do drugs than it is to drice R/C.Now I gotta explain to the boss why I needed new tires and new bodies again :stupid:.Oh well it's still the funnest thing i've ever been into.

Welcome to the worlds most addicting hobby, I did the same, not to long ago, I went into the LHS for a magazine and walked out with a Limited Edition Nitro 4-Tec Pro , much safer than drugs

Just be glad you don't like full size cars as much. Or worse yet, full size cars AND R/C Cars. Talk about a wallet emptying combination!

I'm into full size cars also but the r/c cars keep out of trouble And you can't lose your liscense for racing an R/C car so I'll stick with them for now.

lol i changed my sig like 3 days ago, cause when i went to get some thread lock, i ended up spending $35.
and if you think its cheaper than drugs, i assume your talking about pot, cause when i used to do drugs i could spend $300+ in a night and have zero to show for it in the morning
i have over come that addiction though

I've just got off the phone to my mail order hobby store (its very difficult to get parts in the UK).
I just needed a pair of A arms for my Pirate monster. The conversation went something like this.......
Me: Hi, I need some A arms for a pirate monster.
LHS: Oh, ya broke 'em did ya? They're pretty fragile.
Me: Yeah, do you do aluminium ones?
LHS: Yeah we stock most of the ali parts for the monster.
Me: Oh, well you better make them ali then, and I'll have some turnbuckles too. I also wanna go faster. Do you do pipes?
LHS: Yep, we do a tuned pipe for the monster. Do you want one?
Me: Yeah I suppose so, and a new manifold, and the exhaust tubing. Oh yeah, do you do Dominator wheels and tyres?
LHS: Yep.
Me: I'll take 4 wheels, 4 tyres and 4 inserts please.
LHS:No probs, is that it?
Me: Yeah.....er.... oh yeah, stick me a gallon of 16% nitro in with that order as well please.
LHS: Sure. Now that'll be............(mutters) er plus that...and the...
.....with post and ............£228
Me: <Gulp> er ok thanks (gives details - puts phone down- mops brow - starts wondering how I'm going to explain this to the wife)

HAHA!!!...If my wife only knew whatt i spent on these things.
I can totally sympthize w/ ya Rex. I went into my LHS a few weeks ago w/ the intention of picking up a set of robart hinges for the ziroli 93" thunderbolt im building. I ended up coming out w/ a NTC3, MT12, JRXS3, gallon of fuel & my robart hinges. And A Visa charge that would scare u. But then a week later someone mentioned to me that they had upgrades for the car and i was off to the races to get all the hopuups i could...I belive my phone conversation resembled Manic's to Kfactory...Lets just say im working double shifts for the next week or so to cover this addiction...But ya have to love it.

It never fails. The last time I went to the hobby shop all I needed was some HD dogbones for my savage.I came out with The dogbones a graphite upper deck for my RS4 a flat battery pack, new rims and tires for my RS4 and a new steering servo and then I came home and ordered a new Fantom FR15 and a slide linkage.I don't think it's just the hobby shops that influence us.I think there is some darker power controlling our minds and telling us to go faster.... LOL

Funny thing is it kind of sneaks up on you.
At first you're complaining about a $7.00 magazine and $9.00 dogbone. Next thing you know you're not batting an eye purchasing a new Savage 21 or Storm Pro...
Ask me I know from experience
Boy I hope my wife doesn't read this post!

I know what you mean, I was talking over some stuff about the savage with the LHS guy over one of the display models... I noticed how much smoother the brand new savages suspension is then mine so for a second I pondered just getting a new truck so I wouldnt have to disassemble/clean mine
man I cant look at a car/truck without thinking I want one.

Packfan,
Thats what I did also, I used to race RC10 10-14 years ago. Now I am back into it. Unfortunately or fortunately with more money! My LHS loves to see me walk in the door... (4 times a week)
Now I have:
Maverick 03 Oval car
Storm Pro
XXX KE
XXX MF
Savage 21
XXXNT Drake
HPI Micro
Its a good thing I have that 10 model Futaba 3PK!
Heck I can still buy 4 more!

You know my last post in this thread? Where I rang the hobby shop, well, I ordered a wrong part.
Did I send that part back? No.
Did I keep it as a spare and order the correct part? Yes.
Was that all I ordered? No.
Did I just blow another £50 on a more powerful steering servo? Yup.
I am gonna get creamed by the wife when the credit card statement comes through.
