kewl so I'm assuming with the bump box backplate it allowed you to take the spacers between the engine and engine mount out thus dropping the flywheel low enuff to use the bump box....was anything else needed?...I thought you might have to notch out the engine mount plates to get the engine low enuff...I have roto starts on mine but have thought about converting to bump...though I doubt it would make tons of difference, dropping the engine would lower the center of gravity

p.s some pics would be kewl..I think there are others who have entertained the idea..

yes, you have to take the spacers out and use shorter screws, also you have to make the cut out for the flywheel a bit larger so it will not rub...when i get to my shop i will take sime pictures and post them today

you have to make the fly wheel hole large enough for the starter box wheel to fit

i have a hurricane and a rxt-1...i use the bump box on my buggy and a tiger drive on my truggy, not real fond of the bump box, the drill start is way easier for me to get these bad boys started.
I've heard GOOD things about the TIGER DRIVE........

They make a bunch of different models for different engines and configurations, and it can be a bit confusing.

If its not too much trouble, would you confirm your engine (I assume its the SH .28) and post a p/n or a link for the Tiger Drive that you use?

I think it might help a bunch of folks who are tired of Yankin a PullStart.

I would think that SH makes a "Bump Start" back plate......For a racing motor?

A Bump Start back plate would be designed to eliminate the Pullstart, and SHOULD be small enough that the entire engine could be lowered....

Also, AXIAL Racing sells a whole series of big block clutch bells from 12 tooth to 23 tooth.....for their .28 & .32 motors.
I am not sure that that would fit an SH big block, but its very possible that they might fit.......

You would Probably not want to go higher than 13 tooth (Isn't 10 or 11 tooth Stock?) on the Rancho
Yes, the Axial CBs will fit the SH so long as it is an SG shaft. These CBs aer universal and will fit any big block with SG shafs: Axial, Any Rossis (RB, GRP, Sirio, Axe, etc.), STS, any SH reseller (XTM, LRP, Dynamite, etc.), Piccos, OS, and so on.

As you guys were already discussing, readjusting teh engine mounts are a must. Now there is an engine mount maker, Nova, that makes mount for various RCs and the nice thing about these is that they can not only be adjusted left and ring, but tehy can be adjusted also forwards and backwards. Particularly useful for aftermarket CBs that might requrie more or less space. (I dont know if they make engine mounts for HSPs and MegaPs, but it wont hurt to hit them up,. If anything, they will realize there is a market for engine mounts in teh HSP and MegaP sector.)

one has the screw hold for the clutch bell built into the crank, the other needs a piece to be screwd on to the crank (pilot shaft)
