I have an older Kyosho 4Runner that I'm trying to restore, however in setting it up, part of the CCVT gearbox just crumbled into pieces..

It's made out of a hard plastic of some sort and it is under a decent amount of pressure (it is a post for an L-shaped plate for the transmission shift linkage).

Here are some pictures:

It breaks because the screw exerts a huge amount of upward vertical pressure

I'm thinking of using one of these:

I tried JB Weld but it just broke and I was actually able to scrape all the JB Weld off, and yes I did prep the surface well.

Does anybody have experience with plastic repair like this? Again, the plastic used is rather brittle and very stiff.. unlike the suspension bits (softer and less prone to crack)

Please let me know if you have other ideas (bracing, etc.)

CA glue should work good on hard plastic.

the loctite plastic is some crazy strong stuff. it should work really well to fix it up. if your restoring it and don't want to ruin the look use enough so its not shown. If don't care about the look and just want it really strong mix a bunch and just put epoxy everywhere. This will make that little piece invincible.

that plastaid looks to be good stuff too but i've never used it before.
