questions
I would like to replace the throttle servo on my mtr-3. What servo will work? I tried a HPI sf-1 but the spline does not seem to match up. Also what else should I replace on the truck that might be of questionable quality?

Madmax......
Try THESE

Your Himoto servo arm should fit on this servo.
And if you decide to buy a Different brand of Servo, then check out this Link to see what Arms will fit on which servos..

RE: questions
Madmax....
Perhaps the splines are stripped?
Also....Sometimes the fit is VERY tight, and its hard to fit them on.
Also...Futaba servos have 25 splines....Make sure that your ARM has a matching 25 spline socket.
Its POSSIBLE, however unlikely, that Himoto installed a servo that doesnt follow the Futaba pattern.
So far, all of MY Himotos have servos that are the same as Futaba.
If all else fails. THIS will solve your problem for ANY servo. It is a UNIVERSAL servo horn set. I use these on all my cars....

RE: questions
Thanks Redharris,
I am going to try another servo brand first and if that does not work I will try that servo set that you recommended.
I can't wait to get this truggy going. The steering servo that was in there was binding up so that is why I need a new one.

RE: questions
I could not get any of my servos to fit on the Himoto spline so I used the servo set that Redharris recommended (thank you) and it worked. I was able to finally get my MTR going. Today is test and break in day. Ya-hoo!

RE: questions
Well it runs pretty good, getting good power but the screw to the manifold loosened up and it got loud. So I tightened it, but it is still loud and it has no back pressure. Is there a gasket that I can buy for it or is it somthing that has to be home made?

RE: questions
there is a gasket ...I'm not sure on the part #....I just bought a roll of gasket paper from an auto parts stor for $5 and make my own....I'm betting I can make atleast 50 of em..lol

RE: questions
the part number is 02299 for the gasket but your best bet is to go to the autoparts store and get gasket material, alot cheaper and you will get a lifetime supply.

RE: questions
I made a gasket but never locktited the screws so the screws loosed up a little. My question is, is it possible for the engine to run very hot (320 degrees hot -yikes) if the manifold is a little loose?

RE: questions
Have you checked to see if the screws are too tight.... Edit possible your linkage has moved, are you testing the brakes with the truck and receiver on.

RE: questions
Madmax.....
Adjusting the brakes so that they work Perfectly can be Tricky.
It's mostly Trial and Error till you get the Hang of it. At which time, it will become easy to do.
I Know that answer Sucks...so I will give you a few tips....to get you started.
1. Put 1 small drop of afterrun oil (it is Thick and STICKY) on the linkage shafts. This will alleviate SOME of the mechanical sticking.
2. I use a spring to return the brake lever to a NEUTRAL position. It stops All the rest of the Binding. (see pics of my MXT-2S)
3. Warning. Your stock servo only has So Much stopping power. Forcing the servo to go beyond the point where it starts to "BUZZ " will destroy your servo in a matter of minutes. So if you have a Radio with "end point adjustment" then Use it! If not, then just be REAL careful how Hard you try to Brake.
4. If you want you Brakes to be MUCH IMPROVED, then install a Stronger servo and then install the brake Upgrade kit. (I did).
Hope this helps you out....
