RE: Just saw the walmart nitro rc commercial.....

Yes, I agree. Wally World should have stayed with electric. They offer many cheap-o elctric toy-grade RCs, if they wanted to try a foray into hobby grade RCs, thsy should have stuck with electrics. There are many companies that sell and resll cheap electric RCs that are considered hobby grade: Academy/MRC, HSP, and some of the otehr cheap chinese RC makers could have made electric RCs for WalMart to sell. I have absolutely no clue why Wally World didnt approach these guys at all.

I heard rumors that WalMart approached Traxxas at one time to try to supply them with hobby grade RCs to sell. And honestly, I wish they did choose Traxxas, Traxxas does not skimp on RC making and WalMart would have had a well known brand that everyone is familiar with and known for good customer support, parts support, and reliability. The Hasbro RC has yet to even prove itself as hobby grade. There is absolutely no info on their strengths and weaknesses. Worse, no parts support as of yet nor even if they have a customer support infrastructure (service centers, CS calling centers, replacement parts distibution and warehousing, etc) in place yet.

Why the Traxxas-Walmart venture fell through? These following are only my speculations, but some or all of them must be true: Walmart insisted on much cheaper prices and Traxxas refused to back down on cutting corners in quality. Traxxas wanted to keep contol of their own customer service and not force the customers to have to go through WalMart CS. Traxxas wanted to have say on how the RCs were delivered, distributed, etc, and not necessarily rely on WalMart's distribution (actually, WallyWorld has a very good distribution infrastructure). The RC fans thew such a fit that Traxxas did not want to deal with the bad press.

In all reality if Traxxas had gone to Wal-Mart would they still be a competitve brand in the real RC world? I honestly dont think they would given a wal-mart reputation. I think they would be looked at as a joke in the RC community after that, and I think any brand would be looked at that way also if they try to take the wal-mart route for wider distributorship.

I didn't know that Wal-Mart had tried to make a deal with Traxxas. But from your speculation on why that deal fell through, them trying to make Traxxas cut corners, has to tell you something about the quality of these cars. I think one of the biggest concerns has to be safety, how many kids are gonna think about how they operate these things. Who's to say some kid is not going to hurt someone else or themselves because they are careless and think since they got this at Wal-Mart it is completely idiot-proofed and none of the danger of our engined models exists with their toy?

Yeah i went there and saw that...Wal mart has a main website and when you go to their website and your looking at different products they tell you what stores you can buy them at.. they have a corporate website not individual websites.. there is a chance im wrong...The proof would be showing me the product on a wal mart web page... And does anyone know when exactly durbo decided to release this product?? Could it just be an old site with old links on it??

It's a typical Wal-Mart toy, even with its $200 price tag.

They only have 1 left at the local Canadian Tire store. In fact, I'm not sure they ever had more in. However they have a ton of fuel. No doubt it will go on "clearance". It says it's "wildcat" nitro fuel, but doesn't post the nitro percentage. I wonder if it's any good....

oh,... why am i writing this.....risking my engines on unknown quality fuel to save a tiny bit of cash..................

ya, and then it would ruin his day when he can't get it started, or gets it started, hits one thing and the chassis snaps in half...
