RE: Helpful tips?
Your welcome bro, dont get too tied up in what people say in the hobby, people are very brand oriented, trust me, you have a great truggy that will keep up with most if not all out there in speed, durability and handling. Not to mention you have all of us to help you out!!!!

If you got Sand in the Engine,,,,then you will probably have to get a New Engine......
I would take the ENTIRE engine apart and clean it very well.
Then put it back together and see if it still runs......
If it wont start,,,,then its time for a new Piston/Sleeve assembly,,,,at least.

you got options on what to do......1. use the engine replacement program....2. tear your engine down, flush it with fuel, throw it back together and see what happens (if the engine is shot refer back to option 1..lol) 3. if you have the sh.28, tear it down and clean it up super good making sure no sand is anywere (bearings and what not)...buy the piston/sleeve for a xtm 457 and wake that sh.28 up....will give you alot more power...if you think its an awsome truck now, you havent seen nothing until you do the engine mod...

I'm gonna agree with Randy(Firebird) even if the engine isn't shot buy the xtm sleave and piston anyway, basically it will give you a new motor with more power.

if you got it running you dont need the xtm...
here is how I tune (prolly wrong, and I'm sure Eddie will let me know it..lol).....I get it running with about a 1/2 tank of fuel....get it good and warmed up and do some straight runs....I lean the high end needle in small increments (like picture a clock...I adjust like an hr or 2 at a time)...once I get all its got ( u can tell cause it will lean bog) I richen it up about an hour then richen it up about 1/8th of a turn more....this seems to get me pretty close....then I start on the low....I let the rc idle for a few seconds...then I punch the throttle...if it sounds kinda boggy and doesnt pick up speed fast its too rich...lean it up till it gives the best launch after idling about 3 or 4 seconds...when I'm not gaining anymore launch I'll richen about 1/8th of a turn...then I'll do the pinch test...I will pinch the fuel line close to the carb...if it runs for more then like 4 or 5 seconds and revs before it dies its rich...if it idles about 3 seconds and just barely revs before it dies then ur just right

RE: Helpful tips?
I remember I've had soo many problems in tuning. I went too lean or too rich. Just know where your needles are when you find a good starting position. Tune from there, and if the engine wont start after tuning, then go back to your starting point. The guys here on the fourm told me to go 3 on lsn for a starting point. It worked but it was too rich for my car and it stalled when I tried to start it. For me I had no clue what to do and I went for help but as long as you don't go insane you won't harm anything. If it stalls I lean it out first about 1/4 a turn until its a nice clean idle. Check out my video here[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8H3XPqWVAc]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8H3XPqWVAc[/link]
I show in my video how my HSN was rich then later I leaned it a little bit and look at the difference in speed! Soon enough you will have some minor problems to no problems. You just don't know. Don't be dumb like me and my cousin, ran too lean at 90 degrees out and killed our engines. Eddie had to help me out.
