alcohol wipes on the car body, then a old tooth brush on the inside (carefully) followed by a wipe down and some 3in1 synthetic oil on metal-metal.

You will never get them to look new but you can clean them. What I do after a day of racing off road I first blow it off with compressed air then mist it down with denatured alcohol and blow it off again. The built up deposits I use a old tooth brush. Then I do my maintenance.

I take radio tray and engien off then do the simple green/wd40 method. After I blow everything off I apply a light coat of Pledge to keep dirt away.

I spray the thing down (well, down it) in Mentholated Spirits, then spray it with an Air Compressor. It works really well and doesn't require me to take the thing apart for every single clean. Usually I only need to take everything apart once every 4-5 runs.

We got a pair of slashs and an old shower. I removed the shower head and put on a small piece of garden hose and a sprayer. Works great.

Air compressor! Then wiping down the parts with denatured alchy. I have in the past used carb cleaner to get some really stubborn gunk off, the alchy does its trick almost all the time.

It is called preventive maintence. I dont want a bearing locking up or some other silly things during a race. I clean after every weekend of running.

RE: How do you guys clean off your rc's?
My son and I are just starting in the hobby. We plan to just bash in the desert at first ... this weekend will be the first time off pavement. I'm worried a bit about the fine dust.
The compressed air and oil cleaning method sounds best for us.
What parts are most susceptible to dust?
I'm also considering better air filters ... the stock ones look a bit whimpy. Any suggestions on what to get? They are 1/8 RTR buggys.

Oil both filters, use an 1/8 scale 2 stage filter
Use rubber sealed bearings, keep'em dry so the sand doesn't stick.

I usually dissasemble most things and clean them when i really want to clean them. If i just want to half do it, I just wipe it down some and get most the grass and stuff off.
There is no way to fully clean a nitro without dissasembling it in my opinion. Its a lot of work, but it makes ya feel good when your done
