unless you have a brushless motor you dont want reverse in an electric car.
In all the time I've had electric cars, I've only had one ESC w/o reverse, and I hate it! Ok, ok, if you're racing, that's one thing, but I haven't raced in years, and mtrchamps friend prolly won't right away, so why limit himself to fwd only? No matter how hard I try I always find myself in a situation where the only way out is back. And unless brushless prices have dropped dramatically since the last time I checked, one can obtain a fwd/rev 35 amp esc and about FIVE decent brushed motors for the price of a brushless setup. Replacement brushes and motors are cheap, at least they used to be, so I never really worried too much about wearing the brushes out. I'm not bashing anyone here, this is just another opinion to further confuse you in your quest for info

Oh, and back to the original question......I recently picked up an RC10GT plus RTR for $260. I haven't had any problems with it or broken anything yet. It's easy to setup and run, so I think it would make a good beginner truck, if your friend is looking for an RTR nitro ST.

OK so I'll tell him to stick with the T3, I know the T4 is coming out but it's going to be priced really high I'm guessing

Long after the t-4 comes out, the t-3 will still be supported, I'm sure of it. So, yeah, tell him to buy the t-3 and enjoy!

Because he knows absolutley nothing about rc cars. I showed him some and explained it to him. He pointed out about 6 Electric trucks and 4 gas. He wanted me to post this because he isn't registered on here, and knows nothing about rc cars except that some look really cool. So that's why I posted this and he didn't. He asked me to also so I did, he's my friend, what am I supposed to say no?

I didn't mean it seriously. lol It's funny to read people's reactions when you write some thing that sounds serious but it isn't

Maybe check out some off-road truck offerings at Tower Hobbies https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0297p?C=CA when searching for "the best" one. By the way, there are many best ones out there .

I have several RC car reviews for beginners. Go to the URL posted in my signature section.
One of them is from Axial, which is the deadbolt, and another is vrx from China.

I am an RC flyer and have little experience with road/off road or track RC. My Nephew asked my help to set his son up with a RC truck. I didn't guess I have a very good shop owner who is also a personal friend so I trust his judgement. His recommendation was the Traxxis Stampede Truck. Good quality and good bang for the buck. Lots of dealers/parts available to upgrade it to just about any level you wish. His son has been driving it for 4 years now and as his skill level increases my nephew has put upgraded parts into the original truck to make it faster, handle better and increase the durability/ruggedness. The nice thing is you can buy in at whatever level you want https://traxxas.com/support/Traxxas-Skill-Level-Guide

I believe he started with one that had a two speed choice where you could pick a lower top speed until he was used to driving it then with the flip of a switch top speed was increased.

Level one https://traxxas.com/products/models/...ampede-36054-4 Its also water proof and is in the 250 buck price range.

I'd also check out some of the other Traxxas XL-5 base model vehicles, like the rustler, bandit and 2wd slash.
