HOW-TO: Headlights, tail lights, Brake Lights.
Here I mounted the switch with one screw to the radio tray and I use the Brake lever to push the switch. The lever doesn't move as much as the servo arm and makes mounting easier.
Here I point out my switch plug and the position of the switch. Notice there is 4 resistors on this switch. Refer to diagram.
Looking at the diagram there is two resistors in parrallel at the battery connector. This drops the voltage to a more usable rate. I used two 220 ohm resistors now equaling 110 ohm do increase power handling to 1/2 watt. At the switch I have two 100 ohm in parrallel to equal 50 ohms since I did not have a 50 ohm resistor. With out these the headlights would turn off when the brakes were applied. Connented to both switch terminals there is two 100 ohm resistors in series to equal 200 ohms. I used these since I had them in parrallel but they didn't dim the lights enough so I just placed them in series. A single 220 ohm resistor would do just fine here. That resistor is what causes the lights to dim. When brakes are applied the switch BYPASSES the resitors and brightens the Rear Led's.
Make sure you have enough room where you want your lights and make sure to GLUE your wires to the body or you will rip them up when they get caught in the drivetrain. Good luck and happy lighting.

I've seen this asked several times so I'll just make a how to for it. Believe it or not this is works just like the RAM kit.
What I used...
2: 276-0316 5mm Blue LED 2600mcd $7.98
2: 276-0309 5mm Red LED 800mcd $2.98
1: 271-1313 5pack 200 ahm 1/4 watt resistors $0.99
1: 271-1311 5pack 100 ohm 1/4 watt resistors $0.99
1: 275-0016 smini SPDT Lever $2.69
All purchased from Radio shack.
For wire I used the smallest stranded wire I could find.
For connectors I used what I had. 1 OLD Futaba plug 1 new Futaba plug and 9Volt connectors that I already had.
To get the tail lights to shine through I used a fiber tip sander found at Radio shack to sand away inside paint behind tail light stickers. The cut round hole out of sticker. LEAVE the PLASTIC!
For the head lights I just melted holes with my Soldering iron to allow beam to not be refracted.

Nice FAQ!!! Although I never buy LEDs from the RatShack...way to expensive. You can get all sorts of them from www.eled.com That's where I purchase them from for my PC mods, alot cheaper.

jpetrusek Thanks for the great site and you don't have to buy in bulk!!! I guess I'll buy from them now I got a many projects needing LEDs.

I gotta ask where did you get that Eclipse body??? I just have got to get one. I've been looking but none found yet at the Hobby Shops. Here's why I ask
I am a member of a DSM car club around here and just want that body BAD!!!
Take a look here of a couple running the 1/4 mile.

Sorry to get off topic.
I'm also thinking about professionally making kits for led lighting installed in professionally painted bodies.

Yes they can work with Heli Canopies. I'm designing some simple flasher units to act like stobes. They could be used to drive one LED or a sting all flashing together or add multiple units to act as an emergency light bar or anything else. What did you have in mind for your heli?

You're asking alot when you say your want lighted blades. I really wish a company would come out with blades with them internally for this since doing it yourself is a major PAIN! For lighted blades your looking at a battery, like a computer CMOS battery, Wires, thinnest as possible, an LED, and some sort of switching device. All this covered with heat shrink. Not an easy task and still hold your ballances.
As for a lighted canopy EASY! Pull yor canopy and mount everything to it. Battery and a tiny switch. White in front Red on the left and Green on the right and a nice bright Blue on the tail boom use a simple light weight plug for this so you can still remove yout canopy.

Well the flatout truth is Radioshack ones suck.
they are about 1/2 to 1/3 the brightness. As for the price, well ok its a tiny bit high, but they are great quality..also fr the 5$ per white led from radio shack,..the whole kit is 24.00 I belive for 4 LEDz.
You guys are actually backing radioshack up...wow.
He even said they could be made with the lights brightning.
But whatever. Go the cheap way. I don't care..not my car or products.

Did someone offend you ****? No one saif the Radio shack ones were all that great. Just easier to get for testing. If you reread the thread you'll see that a link was posted to a better supplier than Radioshack. But I guess you just wanted to plug your site and kits.

Although make sure you check the power output/input of the LEDs, as some of them require low voltage (1 - 2 volts) while others can be upwards of 5 and more volts.
You can use this calculator to tell you the voltage and proper resistor size needed.
