eh about electric having less noise an being able to run it when ever isnt so true for me. when i got my first rc which was a rustler xl5, i got it as a gift from my girlfriend at night an went out to drive it like at 11pm an got chewed out by my neighbor. so i only run during the day. the thing that turns me off of elec is having to charge the batts. its hard for me to drive them since with my schedule. i either have to charge them during the night before i go to bed to drive them or only on a day off. i like the fact of being able to just grab the vehicle an go as long as i got fuel.
yeah this thread is going along alright there was so disturbances but i think that was solved an thankfully rcu moderaters havent interveined an shut this thread down

My buddy has actually been yelled at during the day about running his nitros because of the noise. Some people are very bothered by the sound of nitro engines for some reason.

RE: Who here is tried of Electric rc
To answer the question, Nope not tired of electric, but I'll go further into it. I think we've established there are pros and cons of each form of power and why you have die hards on both sides of the fence. I think electric power has the future on its side with gains in battery technology and electronics, where as nitro is basically nitro. I havent seen much advance in IC engines related to R/C other than better quality metals and custom blended fuels. I know there are a few things out there to keep Nitro guys interested like superchargers and nitrous, but I don't see them in racing situations so I have to question their effectiveness outside of the wow factor.
For me...I like both depending on what I'm driving. I have an all aluminum TMaxx that's a blast to drive with an Outlaw .26 and I wouldn't have it any other way. I have several nitro boats that I also enjoy but the guys fishing at my lake don't care for the noise...therefore at least one is up for sale. At this point, a Fast Electric boat is out of the question till the battery prices drop a little because you can still get a 15 min run out of a nitro boat as opposed to 4 or 5 min from a $200 battery setup in a FE even though a FE may be much quicker around the pond.
I have many planes as well and they are all electric. I like my aircrafts electric because I dont have to wipe oil and dirt off the wings when im done flying them and I can fly them anywhere without disturbing people. I only fly brushless/lipo combos and to me, 15 minutes on the sticks with an aerobat takes way too much brainpower so I appreciate the shorter flying times anyway. I have a crawler and electric is the only way to go for those, a 5000mah lipo will typically last over 30 minutes...usually im bored after 20. My newest toy is a Trex 450 Heli and, of course....brushless/lipo. You get about 4:30 flight time with that but your not going to scare the neighbors with it. To sum it up, Most are not tired of electric, and most are not tired of nitro. At the track electric has a large following. My next toy will be an HPI 5T... Hey lets have a whole other discussion on 2stroke gas engines...nah better just leave that one alone.

After 12 years of ntiro,
Its eather gas, or plug and play for me.
speedos are a tad easy to blow, but af often as i run my cars sometimes, replacing fule lines, fule and glow plugs get old after the years.
and with speedo, i go way up in amperage if i can for the safty room, and watch your running habbits.

RE: Who here is tried of Electric rc
I have been running nitro for close to 16 years now and can't see myself running electric. True nitro leaves oil on A arms and is a bit messy but for me part of the fun is tearing my machines down for maintenance. I love working on 1:1 cars and that passion trickles down to my 1:10 and 1:8 cars and trucks.
Now when it comes to electric I have run with some guys with some pretty sick cars. Really fast. Here is what bothers me. The lipo packs they run are weird. The batteries seem to expand a little and they have to constanly check the car to make sure they don't catch fire. Granted the floks I run with are extreme. We tune for top speed wether its nitro or electric. But I have never had to worry about my nitro catching fire.
Now on the noise level. When it comes to stock electric is quieter agreed. But when you start modifying electric can be just as noisey. Again a buddy of mine has a front wheel drive Tamiya electric on road car. The weeeeee sound that thing makes bothers quite a few in his neighborhood. Some of the other electric guys I have run with are making the same loud weeeee sound.
Another thing I like about nitro is I can run until my RX battery dies. I have run for 2 or 3 hours without as much as a hiccup. Yeah I gotta come back every 13 minutes or so to refuel but for me that is no big deal. I have seen electric guys come back every few minutes also to check temps and make sure that the lipos don't blow.
All in all I'm a die hard nitro guy. Yeah I have been whipped on by some electrics but I will never own one. That's just me. Keep doing what makes you happy.

RE: Who here is tried of Electric rc
I run both, I like both. Everyone else I run with only runs nitro. They won't get into electric. It's okay, I just take out my 1/16th scale revo and spank them on my track. Then I break out my rustler or nitro sport and spank them. Then it's back to the electrics. For me, a brushless setup is hard to beat, but there are the inconveniences of charging, high up front cost, ect. With the nitro's, high fuel cost, not to mention the absense of a LHS, can make them a pain. But, I still run both because both are fun. If you don't like nitro, run electric. If you don't like electric, run nitro. If you like gas, run gas. If you like rubber band powered, run that. It doesn't really matter. In my experience, you can be competitive with almost everything, if you can drive. I could probably take a brushed erevo and spank the guy's running jato's on my track. It just doesn't matter. I've been in rc for along time, started with sailboats (swing rigs vs traditional) into gliders (hey, guess what? high starts vs. winches) powered planes (elec Vs. Nitro) power boats ( elec vs nitro) fishing (spinning gear vs fly rod) paintball (electrics vs mechanicals) and now rc trucks. Boy theres alway's sumthin. Just do what you want, maybe have an elctric for when you feel like doing that, and a nitro, or all nitro, or all electric. But lets stop needless debate, opinions are one thing, but downing a side of a hobby that you are not even involved in is a little childish (my daddy can beat up your daddy)

RE: Who here is tried of Electric rc
Guess what, electric and nitro are fun! Next someone is gonna start a "rc car vs rc plane, which is better" thread. Just go have fun no matter what you like. I have both and enjoy both. I will say that if you own a number of cars like I do, it's easier to have a couple nitros and the rest electrics. With the cheaper quality brushless systems, like ezruns, and lipos like zippy/turnigy, it has made it much more affordable to go brushless. That being said, I do like to hear and smell the nitro every now and then. Like I said, regardless of what you like, just get out and have fun. It's funny because out of all my cars, still one of the funnest to get out and run around the yard is a brushed Tamiya Wild Willy. This hobby is about having fun and putting a smile on your face and the Wild Willy always does that.
This thread reminds me of that song, "We're on the road to no where"

The same track, the same cars. They are just E conversions or the rare Ve8 with plastic chassis, so no real differences in performance. I am just saying from a spectators point of view, nitro is more exciting and action packed. You can't do a ''Down and Quiet'' start with electric.
But Lurp06x, just because members on RCU like electric doesnt mean you have to run electric. 99% of people that own a RC car never go on forums. I dont know about racing in your guys area, but big nitro races bring 350+, while big electric races bring 200+. Nitro is still more popular than electric for racing (no proof, so let's leave it as probably), but electric is by far more popular for bashing (again, no proof but it doesnt take long to find out how the Slash is selling compared to nitro models in a LHS)

But isn't racing for the racers? This is like me saying in paintball that everyone should play speedball even if they enjoy woodsball more, b'cos speedball is better for the spectators.
If the electric is boring I think part of the reason might be the track. It takes a different kind of track, redo the track to favor electric.

I still like nitro better because it is just so much more real than eelctric. When the nitro's are racing, 50+ spectators are watching, when the next race eelctric 1/8 buggy would come up, about 5 people are watching. IMO electric's are boring from a spectators perspectative. Nitro's are also fun to race becasue like I said, they are soo many things to go wrong, plus there are pit stops that comes in. In a 30 minute main, can I make 10 minutes on 2 stops, or ~8 minutes on 3 stops, etc.

I agree 8th scale buggies are just a blast to watch period. Even 8th scale electric picked up for a bit in my area as well.
There's just not much interest in electric in my area anymore unless you wanna race a slash or electric 2wd truck or something.
So I've been traveling up north through indiana and even southern Illinois to race my cars where electric is more popular.
Electric isnt boring to me at all, it may be the only RC I'll ever race on a track. Brushless just makes everything easier.

I own planes boats and cars from jets to hydroplanes all the boats are nitro all the planes are nitro but the cars and trucks are both so I guess I just like rc period , show me somthing cool looking or fast or both and I'm happy.
