got my new redcat today but i am getting allot of interference or something
it has the 2.4 gig radio and when i turn it on it twitches
like i turn the wheels and the throtle servo moves
i have brand new batterys in both car and remote.
i am trying to set the trims but impossible this way
i thought it was my wireless network so i shut it down and still did it.

almost impossible to break in the motor when its trying to take off

did you bind it?
also there are alot of other devices that use 2.4ghz (cordless phones, microwaves, wireless networks etc...) so doubt it was your network

Probably interference. I run a TON of computer equipment in my house and I notice the closer I am to the house outside while running an RC, the more interference I get. Once I get a distance away, it goes back to normal.

Wireless routers are what I'm finding to be the root cause so far.

I doubt it is interference. You cuould drive like a mile away and do a quick test.

yea im gonna i live in park and there are allot of wireless networks.... i think that is why and now im kinda pissed because i cant drive it at home, i thought for sure this 2.4 ghz radio would be great and if i cant drive at home i will switch to an am radio. i am gonna take it someplace and i will update this.

i beleive it is interference because this is brand new and when i turn the wheels left-right it hits the throttle to and i cant have that illl wreck this right away. and i used to live up here years ago with with a bunch of cars with am radios i had no problem.

i have a wireless router and almost everyone else does around here to so i hope thats not it

the thing is its not the fact the spur gears plastic. My MT2's spur is plastic and it still looks like new after about a gallon of nitro ran through it, and who knows how old it was seeing I bought the truck used(It was a MT1 before so the spur is probably pretty old). Its just the quality of plastics redcat uses for their parts that is the issue. I've read alot of reviews and the forums and almost everything I've read comes down to low grade plastics being used. I actually almost bought a redcat for my 1st RC till I read how many issues people had with them, and were using HPI parts instead where available. I will say though redcat makes some damn nice looking vehicles too bad they can't get the quality up to match the looks.

I wasn't going to say anything, but I will. My first car was a Redcat and it was part after part after part breaking. Don't get discouraged with Nitro RC. Stick with it. I think of my Redcat as a wonderful learning machine. I enjoyed the crap out of it. Make sure you get a 1/8 "GOOD" RC next and you won't have issues. Heck, you may not have any other issues with the Redcat, I heard they are much better than they were when I had one.

i am going with metal gear next even if i have to match one up from something else.
i wish i knew what else will fit it but i havent been able to find any info yet.

i super glued the steering linkage and it "seems" to be holding strong... but my gear is fried and i cant really test it....

but i am going to wait till the new ones get here, i ordered 2 i will install 1 and take the other to the local store and find one made from tougher plastic or metal
all i know is its a 43 tooth,,,

and anyone know how to make it shift later rather than sooner?
do i just adjust the linkage on the throttle servo?

Ive said this befgore, but you guys must of gotten a bad batch or are referring to older stuff.. Redacat parts and cars are pretty darntough from my experience, and what I've been reading and watching (ie: Lets Break Redcats Once your on that youtube channel, search "lets break redcats" and you'll find over 20 other vids of this guy running em off cliffs and into rock walls and off huge jumps with big time crashes, etc.. They do break sometimes, but I dare someone to try some of this stuff with their HPI, Traxxas, Losi, etc, etc.. They are no more/less breakable than any other model.. As for the spur's, make sure your mesh is tight! You want it as tight as possible w/o touching.. I put the paper between the gears and hold them tightly together while I tighten up the motor.. On my Tornado that makes is so tight it looks like it's touching, but I can hold the pinion and barely wiggle the spur w/o it moving, which is imo perfect.. Spur gear still looks good to this day.. Here's what a pic of my gear mesh looks like..(This is when I had the 2 spd, but the mesh looks thesame)Good Luck!

Also, come by the Redcat Support forum if ya have any questions.. The lack of "This and that broke" theads should tell ya something... There's a few there, like withany model, but not verymany..

oh i know about those youtube vids, i watched all of them before even getting this car. i bought this car because i saw him bashing the hell out of them.... he was even jumping them all off the cliff one ofter the other.

yea i dunno why this gear fried so fast 3 runs....
but it did and i was pissed.
i used to have an hpi and associated  and i never broke anything on them ever.
i was so shocked when this broke so fast.
but again i bought this car based allot on those videos.
i talked to the guy he made them that works for redcat.

To change the shift point you need to adjust the screw for that. Look in the owners manual for the correct direction to turn the screw. It should shift into second gear about 20 feet from standing still at wide open throttle. Oh, that screw for changing the shift point is kinda hard to find the first time, it iwll be inside a ring, you will have to insert the allen wrench in a hole and feel for it. you can't actually see it.
