LED light question
 

hey guys. well i am thinking of getting a micro rally at some point and am thinking about putting led lights in it. i was wondering if anyone knows how i would use these? and if a battery is needed, will a 3.7v 1 cell lipo work to power these lights?

It was actually bolded in the product description ;)
So no you would need a 3S lipo fully charged

If anything you would have to get some cheap white(or whatever color you want) LED's off ebay, and if running them off a 1S hook em up in parallel with a 1k or so resister in series with each LED to the battery

okay well i got these two white LED lights from a flashlight. how would i wire these in parallel? i want to de solder them from the circuit board...will it still work fine when wired?<br type="_moz" />

pictures are REALLY blurry, but yea should work

pretty much you will see a flat part in the LED solder the 2 together the big piece is negative, and goes to the negative terminal.
then I'd get 2 resistors, and solder one to each of the other prongs left. Then solder the other end of the resistors together, and hook it to the positive terminal on the battery

Drew a fast picture IMO resistors should be something between 100-1k ohms so they don't fry(just make sure they match). LEDs in parallel will work for a while without a resistor, but I don't recommend it. I've used LEDs without a resistor in parallel and they have lasted anywhere from 20 mins to 10 months non stop use before dying. But remember any damage done will just keep accumulating ;)

okay so i got them desoldered. now i don't understand the rest of what you had said. are the big pieces i need to look at on the inside of the bulbs?

yup

from your pic the LED on the left, the prong on the left that is the negative. you can see the larger some what triangular piece in it ;)

oh okay thanks. so would i take the negative on one bulb and solder it to the negative on the other bulb via a wire?

fine if you understand schematics, and which is anode and cathode ;)
I tried making my pic as simple as possible for people not knowing the symbols (ok I used resistors symbol but I wrote resistor above it :D)

the negative (cathode?) should have a little notch on the casing.

okay im 100% sure that this is negative to negative, but did i wire it up correctly? and then how will i get the battery terminal to come out of the wire? will i need to strip some from the middle and then add another wire?

oh and now im going to run it off of a 6 cell 7.2v nimh. will i still need to get resistors?

run it off the BEC at that point. get one of the little plugs like on a servo, and plug it into reciever
hook the 2 in series, and use 1 100 ohm resistor

well im not using it for an rc....just something i wanted to try. so would i still need the two resistors if im just running it off of the 6 cell?

no still one but at this point you are going to need to figure out how to drop the voltage down to 6, and wire em in series. Or drop it to 3.2ishV and go for parallel. If you don't it will be VERY bright for like 2-4 seconds than not turn on again ;)

if you have a android phone download electrodroid it will tell you everything you need to know and plus more . I use it when i modify computer cases and everything else
