battery adapter
 

Hey im Jim, new here. Just bought a tt-01 chassis, 2 sky lipo 2 cell 5000 mAh, and a X1 Hitec multi charger. I am new to RC cars and need help figuring out if I need an adapter or to get a different battery. I attached pictures of all connection. So please respond with what Ineed.

a few recommendations
1) replace the Tamiya plug on the ESC with either an EC3(I think those are EC3's on the battery), traxxas, or Deans connector, and do same on the battery, and charger. Male plugs go on the ESC, and charger female on battery. The Tamiya connector is not suitable for high power batteries, and power draws, and will melt the plug.

2) If that is a TEU104bk ESC (looks like it in the picture) get something like this UBEC http://www.hobbypartz.com/ub2liin.html , and disconnect the red wire on the 3pin plug that goes to the ESC, and plug the UBEC into the spare wire coming out of the ESC (should be 2 pin red/black), and plug the 3 pin side into the receiver in the BATT spot. Cause the TEU104BK doesn't have a BEC in the ESC you need to add one or risk frying the radio :(

If that is an XB (eXpert Built) or RTR TT01e that comes with the radio I think that receiver had a BEC built in (why the ESC doesn't) and you can prolly skip my 2nd recomendation

Side note hope you got better luck I tried lipos that looked similar, and could never get them to work in my TT01e, I had to get Turnigy 5000mah 25C hardcases. The ones that have wires exiting the top like that I found either flew out, or jammed the steering setup(I wasted $60-100 on different lipos till I found the ones I mentioned).

It's not an EC3, it's an HXT connector, basically just a bullet type plug with a plastic housing. I would switch everything to Deans. There are other connectors out there, like EC3, but Deans is easily the most common aftermarket connector, and can be found in every hobby shop.

can say the same about traxxas, and traxxas prolly can be found in pepboys ;)

Do NOT try to use an adapter! Do as the guys above have suggested and change out the ends as needed so the batterys, charger and vehicle will all work togeather.
If you try to use and adapter you will have an inferior connector (the Tamyia one) and be adding extra resistance to a high current circuit. That is something you really, really want to avoid!
The actual plug you use makes very little difference as long as it is for high current applications. Personally, I use Deans plugs because, when I changed everything over, they were the best out there. Now you have other choices like the Traxxas ones. My only reccomendation is to use a plug that is easy to get so that future batterys and accessories can be made to fit the other stuff you have.
One last thing. If you cannot solder then it's probably a good idea to learn. It's a skill that will come in handy for more than just swapping plugs.
