need advice. old rcs new tech with kids.
advice please. My 6 yo has been brining down the old rcs from the attic. have 4 running currently- firedragon, hornet, cc-01 jeep, Mercedes c10. Future projects are the frog, m-3 beetle, rising storm, and in time the traxxas stampede xl-5 will probably be replaced by the same, all wich he cant stop talking about. I have 3 radios, a ton of strong brushed motors and 2 strong batts. but only one speed control and one receiver with one set of crystals which is a pita. want to run two cars at the same time. where can I buy receivers and crystals for cheap or is the 2.4 a better option? been out of it for a while...and where to buy cheap speed controllers? is there a better way? searched eBay and every where else...
thanks in advanced!

if you are on the budget... any of these radios will do the job. And as you can see, receivers are just $7.40 each.
for the price., you can't go wrong.

Exactly what I was thinking.... I agree with On2_n_on4..... The GT2 plus receiver is on sale, u can get 2 for under $40.
They are available in a few different colours so u and ur boy could have ur own controller.

I highly recommend 2.4ghz especially for kids because the antenna is allot shorter and stronger. so there is less chance of it getting damaged. Other good points, better range, faster signal speed, digital adjustments, and most importantly power consumption.

and here is a basic very cheap ESC

for ESC's id go with a used "brand name" model.
im kinda known for favoring the "cheap stuff" which in general is true but I have never had luck with those super cheap brushed ESC's.
I often am able to find used Traxxas XL-5 or Losi 12T brushed speed controls on ebay for $20-$35 shipped. Both are good models, the xl5 is even waterproof.

you can also snag some decent nimh packs on hobbyking (from their USA warehouse)

you can also get the same basic radio On2 mentioned (they are sold under a few different names)

plus a couple extra recievers(each radio can be linked to multiple recievers)

and if you wanna stay cheap with the ESC, they have these:

you could get 2 esc's, 2 radios (each with a receiver) plus 2 extra receivers, a pair of 7.2v batteries all for $100 (plus shipping) That should be enough to get all your rigs up and running.

Wow, thanks for the help... I can't believe the price on this stuff!

Not wrong..... The price of the low end bugget electronics is redicluosly cheap... $5 servo, $15 ESC and $30 lipo's..... Its a great time to be in this hobby.
