best cad program for designing RC cars?

ive been doing alot of custom mods and such, and im about to build a completely custom truck, but this pencile and paper stuff gets tiring when you come into unexpected problems that you could have solved in the design process by designing in a 3D enviroment. so im looking for recemendations for a 3d mechanical design product, any ideas would be appreacited.

I use autocad but it is very expensive. If you want something that is more cost effective, try turbocad. Good luck and have fun!

I use mastercam9 but you would have to learn A LOT to make a custom truck on there.

Solid Works. But like Autocad, you're not likely to shell out the dough to buy it.

Try:
http://www.freebyte.com/cad/cad.htm#2D3DCADSystems

Or google "Free CAD Software"

I got bored in my engineering class at school and made an entire T-MAXX. I used Autodesk Inventor or whatever it was that my school has.

I design full size racing engines for World Products and I use Solid Works. It does a nice job. If you are going to do it most definitly use a system with solids capabilities. You may be able to get an evaluation copy or a student edition at very low or no cost.

for 3d, solidworks, Pro-E, or Catia are the top in the main design industry.
i personally use solidworks everyday doing design and do alot of rc design at home (see "New t4 chassis" in the electric forum).
3d design is the only way to go to be able to catch design errors. 2d such as autocad...forget it, regardless of what ppl say, autocad is not for 3d.
downfall is 3d software is very very expensive, if you dont qualify for a student version or already work with it, its out of most peoples budget...unless you get it pirated.
Soliworks prolly has the lightest learning curve.
