RE: Futaba 3PL
There are two screws that hold the battery tray in place. The wire leads can not be unplugged but there should be enough wire to but an end on. Ive always have used lipo's in all my radios so making something to hold a small battery is no problem. I can't be leave that no one has tried it yet.

love mine. having only 4 batteries i was worried it might not have the samebattery life/ transmittingdistance as my other ones that take 8 batteries but so far it has worked just as well if not better then a bunch of my other transmitters.
i dont regret buying mine at all and think it was worth the money.

I think it is one of the best budget 2.4 GHz there is out there. Not as plastic as the spektrum dx3. The only thing I dislike of it is the menu. Otherwise it is a great buy!
I have it for boat, car and crawler
