Traxxas TQi thoughts??
Hey guys whats ur thoughts on the TQi????
I personally love its telemetry and ipod dock.
Ive heard it feels cheap , but there is no real facts to that. maby those people could fil it up fith some weights & make a lether grip with diamond studs... lol
Im currently running the Traxxas Link 2.4ghz 5ch on 5 out of 13 cars & plan to upgrade the rest to run of the one controller.
Im mainly running that TX because i dont know of any other that controll 5ch.
Ive since found out that the TQi is compatable with the RX's i use. how cool is that
So im planing to upgrade my TX tothe TQi and outfit my other cars with the telemetry RX's
What u guys think, know a better 5ch pistol grip TX with model memory?

RE: Traxxas TQi thoughts??
They look pretty good and if you're in to the iPhone thing I guess it will come in handy. A buddy of mine over on the Summit thread says the wheel is smaller then the old one and it feels a little tight, it might loosen up with a bit of use though.

RE: Traxxas TQi thoughts??
My buddy just bought the "slow POS toy" summit according to phmax. The new 1...i have the 1 b4 the new 1. I hate hate hate the new controller, its tiny compared to mine and the wheel is super tight and id say a half inch smaller than my wheel. Which means alot to me maybe not to others. Thats just my opinion tho, but hey what do i know im an unexperienced noob right.

RE: Traxxas TQi thoughts??
That sucks about the wheels size, Dammmm. still if there is a will thereis a way....
Before u upgraded to 2.4ghz i use to use the HPI/Onfa radios. and was use to the nice rubber grip.
When i went to the traxxas controller I hated the feel of the foam & it felt to small. Allso I dident like the fact that it dident show the voltage like most other 2.4ghz controllers, but it was the only controler that could controll 5ch. even tho its listed as a 4ch.
Well anyway this is what I did to my controller. I fitted a volt meter & a touring car tyre to the wheel.... dare say might be able to mod the newer controller in the same way.... Untill the new controller came out I was planing to Jam a BEC in it & run a lipo... the advantage would be i could run it if any voltage battery providing it fitted.
Here is one of my current controllers.... soon will be up for sale with reciver & i will be selling a non "link" one with a reciver

RE: Traxxas TQi thoughts??
Dont know yet... around $60-70 with spare arial & the 5ch reciver only because the recivers are around $30 so thats only $30-$40 for the controller itself with a spare arial For a additional $10 i can sepperate the 4th & 5th channel so they have there own switch....

RE: Traxxas TQi thoughts??
Well I've had my controller for a few weeks now, and love it...
Problems well I left it in the car and one f the kids stepped on it braking off the lever for the dock, still works ok just harder to lock a iPod in.
Only other complaints... It can't be changed from mph and f to km/h and c.
Oh and u can't set custom wheel sizes....

RE: Traxxas TQi thoughts??
I always wanted one since they came out and I now own the XO-1. It's a nice controller and the size of the wheel was my first thought. But to me a smaller steering wheel is a great idea. It was so good that I bought my 6 year old son the TQi controller too for his 30th Anniversary Grave Digger. I love the no-folding antennea. My son has had his truck 3 weeks and has allready broke the antennea and bent the second one. Not from abuse but from trying to push it in. Hahaha. I've broke a few too in my lifetime. So finally words. I love the TQi and haven't found anything wrong with it. But I race my Short Course truck with a Spektrum.

RE: Traxxas TQi thoughts??
some of you said they look cheep..... hmmmmm I have one here this new style with docking base for ipod. It developed a problem and LED doesnt go on as well as the top part of the TX is dead. When Ipod is connected and I switch on button the Ipod is binded with TX but the TX does not work and no LED light.
I spoke to 2 people with exactly same problem. I think TQI with docking base is not yet fit for general sale. Obviously there are some problems which are not yet sorted out.
BTW - if anyone knows hot to fix top of the TX (as docking base is working) please let me know.
