transmitter question
I currently own a hitec aggessor reciever and a hitec transmitter on my yokomo car. Now I recently bought a nitro car and would like to use the same reciever. So I would like to know if I purchased a futuba transmitter with the same frequency would the reciver still work. or does both the reciever and transmitter have to be from the same manufactor

RE: transmitter question
Not really, as long as they have the same Frequency, Band and matching crystal it should work. AM and FM only, synthesized FM modules are different.
I have Futaba, Airtronics, OFNA stock tx(I think is made by Futaba), Acoms (popular in Europe and UK), EMI transmitter (vintage), Asociated XP2 tx and Receivers by Associated, Futaba, Tower Hobbies and OFNA stock RX. I have intermix all of these and they all worked fine.
I think this is a marketing suggestion. My LHS said that they would not work at all - it was all LIES. I remember my first controller was an Airtronics Avenger - its a two stick design and I wanted to go with a Pistol grip. I saw a very cheap one on ebay an got it even when my LHS said it wont work and it did. My LHS just wants me to buy another complete set of TX and RX.
Another thing that I noticed, RC electronics manufacturers like NOVAK makes receivers but they dont make any transmitters.
