Hi,
i have just received a couple of old 1/10 rc buggys that ive won off of ebay and it would be really helpfull if someone could identify them for me, the buggy with the spoiler on is a Tamiya and the other a Kyosho (according to chassis markings).

The Kyosho is a Pure Ten, this was my first "real" rc-car[8D] I bought mine in 2000, but mine had a Subaru Impreza body, and came with several rally bodies at that time. I see you have the same wheels as i have too.

The Tamiya is definitely a DF01 chassis.

I couldn't find any EP either, only GP versions. Kind of strange. But yours is totally similar to mine with the orange springs, beige shock bodies and grey/brown-ish chassiparts. And as i said, excatct same rims and tires.

Some of the old Tamiyas (and newer aswell) shared the same chassi, so it can be a bit difficult do decide without seeing the body.

df01 manta ray was released 10/90.

not sure about the kyosho.

your df01 has read gearboxes so it may actually be a ta02 based truck that someone turned into a buggy. that wing is not an orginal wing.
df01, ta01 and ta02 all share the same drivetrain, but the ta01/ta02's had more red parts than the buggies did. they made some trucks based on the ta02:
hummer, touareg, cayanne, f150, s10 and toyo prerunner (the original short course trucks)

I think i remember the Kyosho from the 1998 catalogue, but i am not sure when it was released. Since then there has been 2 "upgraded" versions of it, i think the 3rd is the recent car in the Pure Ten series.

The Tamiya has Manta Ray rims but Ta02 diff cases, If you had a full Ta02 you could put the two together and see which one was longer because the TA01 or Manta Ray is a tad longer than a TA02
