Default msc makes noise?

i just drove my 1st RC with a mechanical speed control.

i was surprised at the noise the thing makes...not the motor or servo but the msc itself.

what causes the noise? its simillar to the humming a ESC makes, but MUCH louder.

pretty amazing tho how well this old stadium blitzer ran. all stock with a futaba magnum Jr. radio.

i gotta say, the no-delay reverse is a new thing for me

oh, i thought all msc's had like a 3 step forward and 1 reverse. the one in this truck feels like it has really just 1 or 2 forward.

Default RE: msc makes noise?

If it's a tamiya speed control it should be 3 farward and reverse it may be worn out or resistor blown... it may need to be cleaned spray it out with RC electric motor spray and also make sure if all the contacts are hitting when you rotate it by hand ...may need some adjusting to make the contacs rub harder then give it a very thin coat of some type of grease but not silicone base as that stops electric flow.

we just used a good old pencil eraser back in the day to clean those resistors.
