Default Tamiya Avante 2011 build

I saw a thread but it was not a build thread so I thought I would try it out. I bought the first 2011 back in May but didnt build it because I was in the process of moving so it was going to be the first build in the new house.

My wife wanted to buy me an RC for my Birthday so I told her to pick anyone that she might think that I would like, she ended up buying another Avante so now I have a NIB and I could have a runner......

First is to install the motor plate to the rear tranny housing, then add the motor adjusting plate to the motor and then the pinion, then attach the motor to the housing.

The next step in the instructions is to CA the graphite parts but I did that step on one of my work days so I could build it without having to stop and wait.

Next is to attach this battery bracket to the chassis, you can change the position if you have larger batteries by using the front or rear holes
Then attach the diff housing to the chassis.

Next up are the diffs and gear installation. The rear diff and gears, the second pic is a tool that keeps the internal gears in line when adding them to the diff.....

Some AW grease, this wasn't enough for me, I didn't use that tool that I mentioned because I wanted to build both diffs at the same time.....

Thanks, it is a cool diff but Im not sure how strong it is, I had to replace the internal gears on a Vanquish. Granted the materials are better on the 2011 but time will tell........

This is one of the build threads Ihave been wanting to see for a long time! Ihave been trying to stop myself buying on of these all year, maybe Iwill break down soon... wanted one since the original was in the catalogue, of course Ihad to wait to Ihad a job to even think about it.
Awesome build, cant wait to see it finished and running.

Hopefully you will get one after you see this thread, it was a very smooth build, took about 5hrs to complete the chassis, the parts and finish were perfect.

Now that I have some time and Im on vacation, I can continue with this thread.

Next is to thread the aluminum ball ends to the shafts, you will need to make 2 of these.

And then attach them to the rear bulkhead.

Cool build thread, very interesting. I have a few comments/questions:

1) I like how the AW grease container says "non eatable". Heh, like it looks appetizing...
2) What turn equivalent is the GT Tuned motor? Cool that it comes with it's own "special" motor rather than the usual 27T silvercan
3) There are no adverse affects of having AW grease contact plastic parts, like in your diff?
4) Didn't realize it had a center diff too. That's gotta be rare for your usual 4WD buggy, right?

Thanks E, let see if I can answer your questions

1) I never noticed the non eatable on the AW container but I ended up using a tube because it wasn't enough for me

2) Im not sure, its either a 27T or a 21T

3) Ive used AW on my TT01 when I first built it in 05 and had no problems

4) It was an over engineered car back in its days, it also acts as a limited slip diff

Then attach the top plate to the bulkheads.
