Default The "What is this worth?" Thread

Hey everyone,

I was going to start a thread just to ask what one HPI shell I have is worth, but I thought that other people probably have this same question for various older cars/items. Maybe we can consolidate those questions here and get all of the knowledgeable folks in one place!

I'll start, feel free to post up any questions you have. This is an HPI body made for the Road Star, their second car. It's a 1/12th scale and the only body they made for the car back in the mid-late 90s. It's brand new and unpainted.

Anyone have an idea of what this is worth?

If that is the 10GW pan car body which I believe it is they where extremely hard to come by even when the car was new. I had and raced a 10GW back then and they where sold as chassis kits without bodies. I managed to find that body once but after tearing it up I was never able to get a replacement. HPI didn't even have them at the time and told me to "search you local hobby shops". Obviously the body is only worth what someone is willing to pay but It could easily bring $50-$100 on Ebay. The last one I saw was several yrs ago and it sold for $75. I still had the chassis at the time and watched the auction.

Thank you very much, this is the kind of info I was looking for. The guy I bought it from said that he bought the shell back in 1999 and never got around to painting it.

I'm debating whether to sell it, or to keep it and try to find a Road Star to mount it on.

It's a Kyosho outrage, just restored. All it needs is a new body and wing. Motor is the origanal and never ran along with 90% of the car, it also has brand new tires (also origanal). It has a nice amount of work into it. I kinda want to let it go but no clue how much. I also want to keep it but I need money pretty bad. I am alos working on another Kyosho outrage that only needs electronics.

Wow, thats an oldie. You could probably get $100 if sold to the right person. I dont think I have ever seen one NIB.

Any idea on what a Tamiya Blackfoot might be worth? Or a Team Assoc. T4 from about 6 years ago? I have both and might get rid of them....

The Tamiya Black foot could be worth a couple hundred dollars if it's the original version and the stock hard plastic body is in excellent condition. In all honesty the body is the only this that's really valuable..

As for the T4.. Depends on how the truck is equipped. If it's a roller then maybe $50 if you're lucky. If it's race ready with a brushless setup then maybe $150..

Lets see some pics and we'll give you some opinion.

How about an RC10 roller? 6 gear trans, A-stamp chassis, looks like original rims and tires too. Its missing the body, no steering assembly, and also missing a front shock. I bought it off craigslist for $40.

It's in great shape. A Tamiya collector would drop a couple hundred on that for sure since it was discontinued so fast.

I would definately consider selling this if the price was right. Anyone have a realistic value for it? Two bodies, non reproduction. One flawless. Thx

I would say around 500 bucks maybe a little more. They are highly desired.
