Opened the package for the front set of oil shocks and it didnt have the flanges either. []

I ordered two sets from tower, they arrived yesterday. Unfortunately, tamiya left out the part (in the instructions) on how to connect the flanges to the LB's body and no hardware came with the spare flange sets.... Anyone have a link to a set of instructions on how this is done? I have plenty of spare nuts/screws so I should be set. Just unsure how to mount them. Thanks

Are we still talking about the U-bracket?? Or?

The U bracket attached to the chassis via a screw and a lock nut. And then the shock top goes between the U and a through screw and lock nut will secure that. You need a sleeve inside the plastic shock top, of course..

Yeah, sorry. Flange = U bracket.

Did you have to do any fab work to get these on? They apparently need a special size metric screw as any of my standard metric sizes and any that are in the shock kit are either too short or too tall to let the shock fit in between the flanges. Got the dremel on charge, so I can grind some of these bolts down to size.

That's pretty weird.. no modification needed.. all just standard Tamiya stuff..

Here's the part of the manual that shows the parts needed.. I am sure you have that...

Wow. No sir I do not. I'll scan in the instructions i have on Tuesday (MLK off). Mine make no mention of the U piece (flange). Thanks for the pic!

Just took a close up pic of the instructions from my shock kit.

Looks like its changed for the worse. You can see, really no mention on how to connect it to a LB.

BS1, BA2, BS6 like in your pic are no longer in the shock kit.

The manual I show is from LB kit's manual.. those parts come w/ the kit.. not the shocks.. the shocks are generic Tamiya shocks that can be used on other kits, hence no specific instruction for mounting to LB or LB specific hardware...

Does anyone know the stock number for the tamiya oil filled shocks for the lunchbox??? BTW, my lunchbox will be delivered on Tuesday via FEDEX. go it on ebay for 104.99 shipped.  Im excited, gonna paint it a green pearl color.

At first - hello together!

I got myself a Lunchbox last autumn. After some mods - third rear spring, oil filled dampers, Superstock BZ, Hex adapter, better Servosaver, front stiff bar and extra front mounted batterys for the light - its finally done.

Here are some pics.

With the extra weight of the front batterys the weight distribution is around 52 to 48% and the Lunchbox is not that wheelie happy as before but much more controllable.

Nice thread with some great info...got back into RC a few months back and pulled out my old 1987 MP to restore it and decided to get a Lunchie and mod them up a little. Now I call them Super Lunchie and Midnight Skull, need to get a Lexan basher for MP now.

Thanks man, I'm kind of new to painting Lexan bodies and used a little too much paint in certain places like the hood which bleed into the bottom some but it is a basher body so going to get beat up. Going to see if it can fly now =)

Oh no, I didn't paint the Supergirl, I can draw but that would take quite a bit of time to paint it through layering. Iused lexan picture glue and there is a quick little tutorial that shows a quicker way to apply a theme. I need to get a air brush because spray can put too much paint where you don't want it. You have to seal the pictures with Lexan glue really good or paint can seep through.

yeah i was thinking of getting one but they are sooo thin. basicly made from aluminum foil.. would need some serious strengthening to be 'used'

Those aluminum bodies would be fun to bash up, looks like real car damage. Well I got almost all of my mods in, rubber sealed bearings, HD servo with HD servo saver, 2.2 tires and wheel adapters, steel brace across the front, oil shocks, third shock mod, brushless system and now finished the wheelie bar mod I was working on. This thing is so much fun, I can do a continuous wheelie for the length of half my street and probably further if tried. I'm sure I'll will be modding the body mounts sooner or later.
