Hi the motor is the duratrax photon speed 2 twenty turn motor and the ESC is a cheap china one but you can run the stock ESC with the motor also.

Went to a vintage RC meet yesterday and as part of these meets we always have a fun/not serious "Wheelie Race" - open to any RC car which is designed for wheelying and not racing

I got ridiculed (all in good humour) for my "racing" Lunchbox as it has the CRP front end with custom mounts, a Parma lexan body and Schumacher Mini-Pins mounted on Mud Blaster wheels. I used the slowly, slowly, catchy monkey method and as I didn't crash once I managed to bring it home in first place I think more places should race these type of trucks as everyone was having a ball

I wish they would have these type of events in the US period. The only thing they want to race here is short course or 1/8 scale vehicles lol

Hi guys... I'm just in the process of building my second lunchbox and giving the first one a good service, and found this thread while looking around for some info - wow! I've only managed to read the first and last 20 pages so far

Originally I did the box art version:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/362235...57632909490711

Then I moved to a Rollin Thunder shell:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/362235...57635356585543

I've just picked up a black version, so the rollin thunder is getting new black wheels (with the new tamiya spike tires on the back)

Then I'm gonna build up the new car, and bring the old yellow wheels and shell back, so I have two! I'm gonna keep this pretty much stock apart from bearings and yellow tamiya oil shocks, so the kids can drive it easily

Not sure what to do with the black shell yet I will have left over. I might just make it up and have it for show!

Upgrades I've played with so far:

Lipo with low voltage alarm
Alu motor heatsync and body mounts
Foam Tyre inserts
Sport tuned motor
Bearings
Oil shocks (75mm Ansmann)
Junfac adjustable shock mount

I'll post some more photos up once I have the two up and running!!

Well after like 7 years I reactivated my RCU account to post in this thread.

I've wanted a lunchie ever since '87... Well after getting back into the hobby again and building some other rides and updating old ones... I noticed that all my cars were so overpowered compared to my daughters 1/16 traxxas monster truck... so what better companion car than a Lunchbox!

So with that built I ordered some 80mm Yeah Racing shocks and have a 75mm Kyosho shock off my Landmax to put on the rear... the spring is probably too stiff so I'll have to find something thats a bit softer.

My question for you guys, what lipos do you run in these things? I have a few 5000mah 2s packs that just don't fit. If I hacked/dremeled the wall in the batter plate I could probably squeeze one in. I've just been throwing it up top in the tub and strapping it down with velcro temporarily.

I'm still trying to come up with a paint scheme for the hardshell body so I slapped on this Parma lexan shell to bash with. I figured every custom van needs a mural on it. I wanted something cheesey and 80s. After digging through a ton of DND artwork a light bulb went off.

I give you the Skeletor Lunchbox!

That is SWEEET! Definitely a throwback.

We use a turnigy 4000mah in ours and it fits fine. But there are a few guys on here that have fit some 5000mah in there, you have to find just the perfect sized one.

edit: just looked back, post 5029 shows Lunchboxer dremeling his battery tray for a 5000mah battery

Well the neighbors dog bit a hole in the Skeletor body. So I ordered a CRP suspension set. Wait, that makes no sense...

I need to find a cheap sport tuned motor. That silver can doesnt have enough umpf. I keep forgetting I built this truck to drive with my daughter's 1/16 gravedigger, but it's too hard for me to resist hotrodding.

I picked up an extra chrome body parts tree. Going to see if I can put those bits on the lexan body... at the very least the front since I didnt feel like spending an hour masking the grill from the bumper from the lights and I wanted to get out and bash.

I shoulda grabbed extra lenses while I was at it.

Do you use the hardcase roar approved 4000mah? Just want to make sure I'm about to spend 20 bucks on the right thing. 45mm wide 21mm tall?

Welcome back! just pulled my old cars out of moth balls as well been over ten years! been waiting to drive mine after breaking it, you can read about it on my site ! unfortunately I dont have a job so no funds, but still have enough stuff to make a few runs! but gears are about gone so guessing the fun wont last long, of course I think it;s more about the tinkering than any thing! me and my bro had a saying, maintenance maintenance maintenance drive! maintenance maintenance maintenance drive.
good luck with the new truck!
again welcome back and thanks for posting!
take care and be safe!

congratulations! on your win! not bad for just getting back into it! gotta be patten your self on the back for that one! good job, nice track I might add, is that a cloth base they have laid out? wow! I bet you get great traction on that, also no dust and dirt! good idea, how about sliding though, with that much traction, bet it is hard to drift around corners etc... first time I have ever seen a track with that on it, but I have never raced professionally so wouldn't have a clue any way, but looks great!
take care and be safe!

so how did you do the engine sound on the video? is that from the truck? Id never heard of sound effects on an electric car, that's too cool! is that something a guy can put on or is it part of the lunchbox kit?
