OK, check this video out. It shows the Wild Willy 2 build of the chassis. I have not done the body yet. I used iStopMotion v2.5 to make movie. This was a fun build, Willy definitely seems to be build tough. I used the Tamiya "Sport Tuned" motor. I have put bearings in chassis and transmission (no more plastic bushings)

Sorry guys for some reason Flickr is only showing part of my video and then it is cropped.
I will monkey with it some more. damn!

Try this link:

But this one came out tinted red?????
GRRRR!!!!!!

Looks fun, but yeah, the video seems to stop after the gearbox is built.. !!

The Sport Tune should give you plenty of wheelie power!!

ok, I have read all 82 pages, (I know... CRAZY huh...) after taking a super long break from RC, and now wanting to introduce my 9 year old son into it, and even will be picking him up a Willy 2 as well really soon...and I have decided to order my xbpro built Wild Willy 2, ( I had the 1 back in the day, and it was my FAVORITE car I ever owned...) and I had a few questions...

I will be buying the aluminum Tamiya shocks from Tower, (pink) so I have those covered...

I need to know whether I should go with a Tamiya Sport Tuned or the Super Stock, which is the best for this application???

I am about to buy a BOCA bearing set for the Willy, should I go with the ECONO ($15) the TEFLON ($42) or the CERAMIC ($70) I know OVERKILL, but I will make sure I get the best bang for my buck on this project.

I have this package incoming just for my Willy...

Team Orion IQ605 Charger Combo w/2 4000mAh NiMH 7.2V Batteries

I have the Willy 2 manual in hand, and I am looking at screwdriver sizes I need in my toolkit, but they say small and large... what size are they actually, does anyone know the perfect point tip sizes???

The xbpro comes with the FUGLY giant bumper, so I will be grabbing a f tree to replace it... is that all I need for replacing it properly???

I have MANY, MANY other questions, but I figured this will get me started... I have over 25 years of experience, and I am so excited to get back into RC, and the Wild Willy 2's will be my passion for sure... my plans are an extra setup for my son, so he can run with me, and at least another spare kit (or TWO) before they are officially retired AGAIN... Thanks all for the great info, and forum... talk soon... if anyone here is from the Houston/The Woodlands area, hit me up, maybe we can form a club... or at least meet up for some awesome Willy racing...

Nice, welcome.. no doubt you and your son will enjoy WW2 a lot.. !

Ballbearings -> any cheap ones will do.. these are not race cars.. ha!

I'd start w/ the stock silvercan motor.. without changing the ESC, you can certainly safely run the Sport Tune.. anything above (such as Super Stock), you might be over taxing the stock ESC. People have been reported that the ESC is able to handle the Super Stock motors, but technically, Tamiya does not spec it out to do so. (So we know Tamiya over-build their stuff, still.. run it at your own risk)

Yes, please change to the small bumper.. ha!

Good luck and keep us posted!!

hey welcome to the loony club of WW owners

get rid of the aluminium pinion get a 18 or 20T steel rrp (Robinson Racing Pinion)

and if you like the lights a 3racing led kit.

bearings just the cheaper ones but put rubber shielded ones were there is contact to the outside world, for the rest i use metal shielded

Don't know much about screwdriver size.. any standard size should work.. I like using the Tamiya TRF screwdriver.. this one will be perfect for the regular size screws for all the Tamiya kits..

http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53649

You can get both pinion sizes and play with them to see which one works better..

Nah, you need about $100k worth of tools from Snap-On, but those 3 would be a good starting point..

It is hard to put a value on that kind of stuff.. to some, they are worth every penny, to some, it is like, "WHAT?!"

Man, if Wendy is going for $200, I should sell my Wheeler body set for $300! hee!

I agree... A driver figure for $200... Wow... I like to spend money, but that's more than a whole extra Willy 2 kit for my shelf!!! I would like one eventually though...
