Hi Everyone

Its nice to see new people and new cars! My rescued WW2 has had a lot of fun this summer, its still running fine, and I added a little cooling to the motor (pic below) I was wondering about maintenance? The car runs and runs despite the odd knock and all it really gets care wise is a visual check.
Is there anything I should be doing?

One more question, I live on the beach and I am SO tempted to run willy on the dunes, but terrified the sand will get into him and hurt something vital, as you know the motor is really exposed, is there any danger? Willy was BORN for the beach!

I have totally given up on getting a WW1 the cost is just too much, I am falling into the trap of holding back with my WW2 as his value rises too!

If your Willy has ballbearings (preferably rubber seals) and a metal pinion, than that should be enough.
just cleaning of the dust und putting just a little oil on the driveshafts and cups(but wipe it dry again so it doesnt collect dirt) against rust, or use dry lube

you could put this on the motor, Tamiya - 9400480

WW1 isnt that expensive, if you are lucky you can get a LWB for aprox. 130euro that is still in good shape

yup, if you look long enough a ww1 turns up for a reasonable price, I know of 2 that are on sale now here in the Netherlands, a swb and a lwb, i think if the bidding doesn't go crazy each won't go over 200 euro's

ah well I just got myself my 5th ww, a ww2 to keep nib

Thanks guys,

My WW is totally stock (except for the new speed controller) so I guess I need to buy some?  I saw a few sellers on Ebay, there are 18 in a set (will that mean a total stripdown on Willy?)

How about protecting the motor from Sand/water etc?

Thanks for the replys Ill keep my eyes open for a WW1!

they both look in very nice shape, one even with some spare parts and the grills are still in one piece. yummy!
the LWB seems to have SWB parts, the compartment lid has the holes from the swb design and no screws in the front arm upper swing.

just placed a bid

edit : guess i just bought another willy!!!

water is not so much a problem for the motor (except if it is salty, but you could clean with disstiled water afterwarts) water is more trouble for the ESC and receiver.

bearings they also have a ebay shop (sometimes cheaper) and yes total stripdown but its pretty easy and you can get the manual here

and get a steel 18T pinion (RRP RRP-1118 or a 20T if you need some more speed)

Thank you for the info! I dont want to immerse it in sand/water just tear around some dunes, so i guess a wipe down after would be ok? What about the gearbox? is that sealed?

gearbox is pretty much sealed, have a look at page 17&18 of the manual.
only weakpoints are where the diffs come out (put rubbershielded bearings there) and the holes for the alternativ motor position (can press some wax in it).

I had a couple of runs on beaches and did not find much inside the gearbox.

I have mainly problems with the steeringservo were the screw tends to fall out. (just have to check more regularly)
and the screws that keep the arms and uprights in place, replaced most of them with these "Tamiya 53301 TL-01 Stainless Steel Suspension Shaft Set"

Tamiya is "re-releasing" (there will be some differences.. like 115mm tires, etc.) the Pajero.. I think the shell will be the same, though.. so if you ever need replacement shell, you will be fine.. !!

I know, thats why I replaced the shell on this Willy M38.

I like the wheels of the M38 more than the ones on the 'new' Pajero
(well you should like it as they put the pajero shell on the "Lunchbox" chassis)

here a pic of my latest purchase,

Yeah, I assume the 115mm tires that Tamiya mentioned is basically the LB / WW-2 tires.. !

I can't decide!
Hey guys. I need some info on both lunchbox and wild willy 2.
I had 1:32 lunchbox when I was little. I love it. but I really like WW2's design and it seems like a blast to drive.
I found an ebay seller selling the WW2 kit for 159 shipped and lunchbox 109 shipped. I don't know which one to get! >_<

O_O LOL! I wish I could.
Well, I have to come clean to something. I never built any RC Kits before (used to build model kits. you know, cutting and painting) So I don't think I have problem assemble WW2.
It's just i am really clue less when it comes to ESCand servo. and I want to have a buget build first time (upgrade later).

So which ESC and Servo should I get?
Which motor?
What shocks works to get things started?

I have a Losi 6cell battery from my Tamtech Frog. I don't know if I will be able to use the same battery.
Gah. I am such a newb!
LOL
Thanks in advance!

here we go:
tamtech battery would fit the LB, probably not the WW.
motor and esc, use the standard provided with the kit.
shocks could be easily upgraded later, if on a budget use the stock shocks
servo: buy a cheap standard size servo, mine lasts for over 2 years after I destroyed the first in water.

The only thing that should be done when building the kit is change the plastic bearings for ball bearings.

Thanks magic!
The ebay seller give me some recommandations:

servo (the seller told me to get two of them, is it because the stock ESC is a mech-SC?)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-X-Futaba-S...item2a0e6b83d3

radio: http://www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/w...I=FUTJ1475&P=7

bearings: is 16 going to be enough?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Econo-Power-...ht_2932wt_1139

Lastly, what battery and charger should Iget?

Thanks guys. You guys are awesome!

I have 2 WW's with an esc new in the box and 1 with an msc, so you could get either one.
the radio you chose comes with 2 servos so no need to get them seperate.
And yes 16 should be enough.

and for the batterys, I use cheap 4000 mAh Nimh, and have a run time of over 30 minutes per battery.

ah. is there a specific brand on the battery?I am not sure of the details and just afraid of battery not fitting.
Thanks again magic!
