did some speed runs at my 'proving ground' i suppose you can get a good idea of the speed (or lack of) by looking at the car space lines (about 5 feet in width)
it takes ages to wind up though, so think i'll drop the pinion to 24t or 25t.

got a couple of parts in for the re-build (whenever it may happen..)
annoying the left parts are grey, whereas the TRF plastic parts are black...

ooops! [&:]
at first i thought i'd bent the expensive aluminium hub carriers, but a closer inspection reveals the plastic gave up first..
not surprising though, the hub and suspension pins are heavy duty stuff!
also, despite putting the Mamba Max setting on 'full start power' and having a Dynamite 7700kv motor in it, it doesnt even spin the wheels at launch.. i think some new batteries are needed [:'(]

Hy all!
I bought a TA03F PRO(has carbon lower and upper deck) for 35$ on a market RTR,but some plastics are bad:S Screw holes sucks.
It's hard to find parts for this car nowadays but maybe i orderd everything from ebay.
Can I buy a drive belt in blue?I know it is a limited edition but is it avalible somewhere?
I hope i finish my car in 2 weeks becasue i want to try what a 96' produces on a track.
What gearing should i use wint the black spur setup and stock 540 Jonhson motor?

hey Davzone, there's a thread dedicated to the TA-03F, you might get more feedback from that

treated the TRF to some parts...
although i'm very confused by it, i mean the TRF comes with one way diff, yet you can also have one way counter shaft as well (or even run two if you want!) [&:]

time for the tear down!
definately not a shelf queen!!
ive decided i will change this slightly, make this a TA-03F short chassis (Tamiya never made the short chassis/front engine with CF/hop ups...)
this will make it super scale!!

RE: Lee's vintage TA-03 R S TRF build thread
was going to use 300000 weight diff fluid, but its that sticky i'm sure it would break something with 7700 brushless power..
using this AW grease for everything else..
bit of a pain to re-build, as i have to use two manuals!! one for the different front/rear gearbox layout and one for the TRF chassis..
as you can see, some minor changes between the two.. TRF uses long screw and flanged tube..

RE: Lee's vintage TA-03 R S TRF build thread
rear gear case nearly complete.. need some bearings (as the TRF takes more bearings than the standard TA03R, doh!) plus some outdrives, as i'm using gear diffs front and back for tunability.. the ball diffs never seemed to be tight enough.. it always understeered like crazy..

RE: Lee's vintage TA-03 R S TRF build thread
ive found out that the short CF chassis plates will not make a front engined short wheelbase CF chassis.. the rear gearbox screw holes will only fit the wider (standard length) chassis... so do i give up on this project, or do i buy the standard length CF chassis plates and make a classic BTCC car?
as if you need to ask!

Wow, those carbon fiber chassis are super expensive! I think I'll stick with the plastic tubs for now... that way I don't feel bad about scratching the tubs up since replacements are only a few bucks!

RE: Lee's vintage TA-03 R S TRF build thread
Dear Lee
I am also rebuilding my TA03R, but a lot of the parts I do have except the instructions. Can you not by any chance forward me the instructions (diagrams) for the Torque splitter unit and carbon batt plate.
Perhaps scan it and email me a jpeg?
Regarding the batt plate, I want to run LiPo's at our club races and it seems this hop up will be best suited. I am just unsure as to what else is needed for a complete batttery fixing solution?
Also can we run a bigger pulley on the front or back?? My belt is a little too loose.
Where did you buy your parts?
I am more than willing to pay you for the trouble.
Regards and thanks for the help. Nice thread, thanks for starting it.

here are some scans of the instructions you requested..
with regards the belt coming off, i know there are 16T drive pulleys (stock are 15T) though you will have to change front and rear to 16T.
does yours not come with a belt tensioner?
also i'd remove your email address and phone number from the last post
