Lee's vintage TA-03R S TRF build thread
t last! i finally have one! in many ways its quite comparable to my Schumacher Mi2... CF chassis, lots of pink aluminium, oil shocks, full bearings, ball diffs and very tunable..
but somehow this is a lot more special [8D]

RE: Lee's vintage TA-03 R S TRF build thread
i can use my Corolla WRC shell on it, it was made for the S (short chassis) which is 20mm shorter (Wheelbase) than standard, 237mm-257mm.
i always build the shocks first, only problem is, they are that short i need long nose pliers.. i can normally get away with standard pliers..
another order... http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=74002

Those are very pretty shocks.. feel like the one I have on my WW-2... it is a little bit different than the current generation TRF shocks..
Still very good action, though.. I can tell you that!!

yeah, i am poised to buy another (for my collection) so i allowed myself this pleasure!
couldnt resist building a bit more..
rather tasty hub carrier/upright, no less than 4 bearings per side!

most of the front end now complete, thats enough excitement for one day!
might need a fair bit of threadlock on this, as there's lots of metal to metal contact in the steering parts.. gonna run it without for the first few runs and see how it holds up..

i want either titanium or aluminium turnbuckles (preferably Tamiya) but cant seem to find any.. i think the TRF will get the Novak 4.5 treatment!
then i can give the Mi2 chassis a good check []

i'm not sure whether the Mi2 chassis is beyond repair, because rather than run in an open lot, i ran in a small area with lots of kerbs! also i have bent/cracked rims, which is probably why the rear diff isnt straight anymore.. [:@]
another b/l system is out of the question, unless i see a bargain..
